Flowering is coming along nicely. The Sweet Pure Auto CBD is pushing out some trichomes, as is the Erdpurt to a lesser extent.
The males are stagnated due to low temperatures. The 2 CBDream girls should have had pollen 2 weeks ago, but the boys haven’t dropped any yet, so it looks like my opportunity to make seeds with them has passed. I guess I’ll let the males finish and collect pollen from them to store for the future.
It appears the only seeds that will be coming out of this run will be Lebanese x Sweet Pure Auto CBD and Lebanese x Erdpurt.
A bit disappointed that I will have to wait quite some time before continuing with my CBDream back-crossing project, because my next run is going to be 100% Romulan, and after that I will be getting some plants started for the outdoor season. So, realistically I won’t be resuming the CBDream BX project till next autumn. On the other hand, the CBDream and the CBDream BX1 will be sensimilla.
I already have plans to create a better “male jail” - a warmer one with a better light, so I can rely on males dropping pollen well before it is needed.
Update: The CBDream BX1 male is dropping a bit of pollen. With the females only 4-5 weeks from finishing I am thinking I might go ahead and selectively pollinate one bud on the CBDream female. When it comes time to harvest her I will just leave that branch/bud to continue after the rest of the plant has been harvested. This option didn’t occur to me before, but I think I’ll give it a shot because it will allow me to continue my CBDream BX project and heck, even if the seeds don’t mature enough the only thing I will lose is a bud or two of weed.
The Harlequin is still at least a week or 2 away from dropping pollen.
Well, I fucked up. My plan (as per last post) was to take the bit of pollen dropping from the CBDream BX1 male and hit the pure CBDream female in order to make some BX2 seeds. I had a brain fart when I reached in the tent and convinced myself I needed to grab the CBDream BX1 female. She got the pollen instead of the pure CBDream female.
So instead of ((CBDream x Critical Kush) x CBDream) x CBDream (which would be BX2),
I’ll have ((CBDream x Critical Kush) x CBDream) x ((CBDream x Critical Kush) x CBDream) (which I don’t know what the fuck it is).
After I realized this fuck-up, I rescued the male from my garage trash pile and now he is living up in the living room window. Hopefully I will get some more pollen from him to hit the pure CBDream female as planned. Running out of time here.
The Harlequin male dropped a tiny bit of pollen yesterday, but the vast majority of flowers are still far from mature.
Meanwhile, I can see nice big seed pods on the Sweet Pure Auto CBD and Erdpurt (which were both hit with the Lebanese pollen). The SPACBD is a wonderful smelling, sticky plant!
Lots to keep track of in my mind. This run was a bit too ambitious, I guess. Next run will be simple. One strain and make as many seeds as possible in my small tent.
Well, there’s only a Harlequin male in this run and he is taking forever (my fault) to drop pollen, so zero chance of pure Harlequin seeds this time and I think it will be too late to cross him to any of the current females by the time he is ready. The females only have about 4-5 weeks left…
Potheads aint use accurat nomenclature but it aint yer fault. Weve adopted our own inaccurat nomnomnomenclature which mimicks our own inaccurat breedin techniques.
Yer talkin bout F2B (F2 of backcrossed parents) of CBDream x Critical Kush n youd just note yer using the CBDream parent fer the backcross.
That makes sense I didn’t even think about running the auto for a shorter time. That’s not much less than they would get growing outdoors anyway so, the autos would end up with a lower yeild compared to a 20/4 cycle though right?
I don’t pay much attention to yield, to be honest. I always end up with way more than I can smoke. But logically, yes - lower yield with autos at 12/12 than 20/4, all else being equal.
My Harlequin male has been dropping quite a lot of pollen, so for shits n’ giggles I collected a tiny amount and selectively pollinated one bud of the CBDream. This wasn’t a planned cross for this grow, but it’ll be interesting one way or the other, and should be high CBD.
