New to growing seeking advice

Hello buddy, welcome aboard.

First things First:
Growing area, will it be indoors or outdoors? I suppose Indoors, do you have your room or cabinet ready? Lights fans, Air extraction?

If so, pop the seeds, go feminized if you want to smoke it and have for you, place the seeds in a water cup with water ( check and ajust PH to 6.5 - always, every watering) and leave them over night in there, the following day you can pick up the seeds and place them in the first pots, push the seed dow with your finger and cover with some soil dust, then add 3 soup spoons of water - 15ml. Wait 2 days before you water with the same ammount until they pop.

Once they poped, water every 2 or 3 days and little water, small plant need small water unlike a big plant that needs a lot of water.

And you go from there, pick up a dry cup and a watered one, feel the difference in mass and water only when the soil is dry. Donā€™t keep it moist.

If you do only this you will be able to grow weed, I would aim for 1 harvest before you start with nutrients for feeding and other stuff.

This 1st run you will learn the basics about watering discipline, with new unused soil, next time you may want to re use the soil and add some feeding in the water.

I would save regular seeds for later because in a few years you may want to breed and cross strains and those males that may come will play a special role by then and are kind of unwanted now.

Good luck!

I would suggest starting with some seeds you donā€™t care about too much.
The biggest learning curve for me was and is starting the seeds. I canā€™t tell you how many seedlings I killed. Too much water, not enough water, too humid, too dry.
Seedlings are very sensitive for the first week or two.

I can send you some seeds to practice if you donā€™t want to risk it with your collection.

Keep in mind the classic mistake it over-watering. I imagine we all did it at some point.

TBH I wouldnā€™t sweat it too much in the beginning. Like a lot of people I figured out how to grow (such as it is) from the original version of this website and trial and error. In the end it is a plant and plants want to grow, so getting started isnā€™t too difficult itā€™s just a matter of dialing everything in to make for a good end product.

Iā€™d probably start with figuring out the pH of your tap water. Cannabis is an acid loving plant and you will likely run into nutrient lock-out if your pH issues if itā€™s too far out of whack.

So I talked to my buddy a little bit about these to get some insight from him. He said all of what he gave me is newer and shouldnā€™t have germination issues. He said heā€™s got a ton of older stuff too that I could look through if I want but I think Iā€™ve got well more than I need at the moment lol

The bag with all the hand written labels on everything has easily at least 500 seeds in it. All seeds that he or someone he knows made.

Not much for feminized in the bunch but thereā€™s enough to get me started. Thereā€™s definitely a few things that have piqued my interest.

If anyone has any suggestions of what I should pop first Iā€™m all ears!

Cherry Rangoon would be a go here as would the Daywrecker Deez x Cherry Pie. If ya like cherry weed that is.

Lotsa fire in there, for sure. Should keep you busy/trading for quite a bit!

Those are the two that I was leaning towards as well since they are feminized. I do like me some cherry weed too so that works

Also I just want to say thank you for all the input and support so far. Ran out of replies so I couldnā€™t respond to everyone individually in a timely manner. But Iā€™m planning on setting everything up and getting some seeds going this weekend.

Suggestions are more than welcomed on what I should start!

I have a 2x4 and 3x3 tent with LED. Havenā€™t decided how many seeds Iā€™m gonna start yet, Iā€™m not sure how many will be managable with the space I have. 4 or 6 maybe?

You were gifted a ton of cool beans. The Sunshine F2 would probably be a fun one as would Watermelon Hashplant. Nice stuff! Itā€™s hard not to get bit by the seed bug as your friend clearly has. Iā€™m in the same boat, bought more seeds i have no room for.

Well, you can start looking into posts (previous grows) for these strains, read up on the genetics through a google search and narrow it down to a few of the best sounding ones. Then pick your most favorite to get sprouted.

You could also just close your eyes and point to a pack. Germinate them and start your journey to growing dank buds.

Either way, enjoy the process and donā€™t criticize yourself too much as you go and youā€™ll be growing weed like a champ in no time.

I would say start with those Ancient OG you have from Copa Genetics. That breeder does growing in swampy areas and puts his cutlivars through hell and personally hand picks the final seeds before shipping to seed banks.

I have been growing for little over a year now and about to wrap up my 6th harvest. I am still learning myself but havnt had a plant fail me yet after they brake soil. Feel free to message me with anu questions you have.

I like 3 plants in a 4x2 tent and 4 plants in 3x3 tent but depends upon various factors

Iā€™ll push the boat out further and say his first run should be a open-pollinated seed run of those.

four plants in a 3x3. learn a ton and have seeds+trade bait for life. @DirtyWork (great handle btw) I know it seems like you have quite a few seeds, but thatā€™s really just a good headstart.

try to remember, the best gardeners kill the most plants. it sucks a LOT to sweat popping beans because you only have a few.

Iā€™ve already started to look into a some and will be doing some more research over the next few days to make my pick. But closing my eyes and pointing at one doesnā€™t sound like a bad idea either, maybe Iā€™ll do that with the few packs I narrow it down to!

Appreciate that! Iā€™ll definitely keep the Ancient OG in mind

Cool thatā€™s good to know, Iā€™ll probably start a few more than I need just in case I screw something up!
