New to growing seeking advice

I was planning to use the 3x3 for flowering and the 2x4 for seeds and clones when I get to that point.

Good you already have an idea about how to use the spaces that way, and take clones too. Took me a while to figure those things out.

Yeah buddy gave me an idea of how to get started and things to do but it was pretty limited. Which is why I took to the internet to try to get some more details.

Bigger containers makes more sense than buying a bunch of bottled versions of what you already have in boxes. Only gotta get bigger containers once. 10g pots or my favorite SIPs.

Good idea to get the soil cooking now. Can you mix the Happy Frog with the Ocean Forest and let sit a few weeks? Dont need it for seed popping. Get a lil bag of seed starter soil and smallest light.

cooking is overrated in general, and wholly unnecessary for something like FF or HF. if you were starting from scratch with coco as a base or something, that might be different.

what Down to Earth stuff do you have? they make good stuff.

There’s a few different things the all purpose, vegetable mix, flower mix, bio-live, kelp meal, guano, and gypsum.

Tldr;

Mix all the soil together. Happy Frog and Ocean Forest are different but play well together ime. 1 All purpose + 1 Gypsum + .5 Bio Live + .5 Flower. A good compost will help tremendously at 1-2. Earthworm Castings are inexpensive and readily available, Malibus Coast of Maine etc. Can u add cover crops to the tote? Worms? Make LABS and use in tote. None of this is " necessary ".
But active root exudates, Worms and the accompanying life they bring plus LABS is better than the best soil available out the bag. You have all this minus a few that can all be had cheap milk n rice for LABS. Worms from a bait pet or garden shop, or your yard if so lucky red wrigglers and a pack of cover crop from Amazon. Popping seeds on Friday. With everything moving faster than possible you won’t need this soil for 3 weeks but really closer to 5-6. At which point you can simply keep moist till finish. Soil improves over time.

Bigger containers though. 10g. KISS

Forgive the preachiness.

Great tips! The idea with worms and LABS sounds interesting—really a natural way to improve the soil. Awesome that you shared your experience!
