Seems fruity strains require more optimal drying conditions than nasty funky strains(nasty is not a negative adjective in this instance) Dry a fruity strain to quickly and it’s hay, something skunky, cheesey, or meaty is gonna maintain its aroma and flavor.
Interesting. I’ll have to keep that in mind. It’s actually been a while since I grew anything fruity. I have had strains lose it all in the drying thing. Harsh hay, yep. Slow drying is better, but hard for me here. We have really low humidities normally.
Interesting observation…
That tallies with my impressions as well…
That means I need to run some more Sour Strawberries to verify…
Cheers

That was my experience drying Tiki rain
Its got a dark indica smell an my alien og I was able to get 10 days in before trimming an that kept the fruity sour smell more intense.
I guess that is why they call it optimum.
But I can never get that 60 / 60 / 16 day hang thats almost impossible for me.
Same, I’m fixing to just setup a drying tent in my living room with its own portable ac unit, humidifier, dehumidifier, and air purifier.
This time of year for me is easy
But when I harvest after April here Its extra equipment an care.
So cal gets
yep, drying is always the most frustrating for me and its really starting to piss me off. all that work to screw it in the end and have hay when it smells so damn delicious going in. ive decided on the next run im fully setting up a single entire room proper with humidity and portable AC. already bought the equipment so im so excited to get there.
air purifier? @EugeneDebs420 - por que?
Cat hair, cat dander, cat litter.
makes sense… thats why i have fish.
anyone else ever use fish water to feed ur plants?
i burned some thai pepper plants one time doing it
sry, random, i know
I was dissapointed with the Orange Goji after hearing all those good reports about her , but after a slow and long cure it’s Glory in Heaven so I second that statement …
Yeah, I’m gonna hold off on growing more fruity strains till I get this drying tent setup(save for the Apollo apes I’ve got going) but they’re terpy enough to still taste great with suboptimal processing.
IVe only grown 9lb hammer, chem91 - both fruity aroma (ranging From rotten fruit in early flower to lemon sour patch kids mid flower to grapefruit )
They dried quickly and never had a great taste right.
However 9lb hammer has been curing for 4 months and I haven’t tried it in 2+. So I will revisit This week. It’s a really heavy stone , and I only smoke in mornings. So it’s hard to fit it in, it’s medicinal properties are great , pain management +++
Right now I have sour jack and bday cake a few weeks From harvest. Both kind of fruity.
Going to do a slow dry and hopefully work on the smoke quality .
All mine smells like hay. I like it that way. Nothing wrong with the taste or flavor. I don’t like it real smelly. I feel like everyone can smell it.
I honestly can’t figure out how y’all are getting your dried weed to smell like hay. My dry times have always been fast. Like 4-5 days and we good. 7 days and I’ve got some stuff that turns to dust when rubbed between fingers.
I decided to push the envelope on my latest harvest. I literally dried two whole plants in the middle of my bathroom, with a fan blowing directly on them, not even in the dark. I mean I guess it was darkish at night but you get the idea.
Harvest is “curing” now aka sitting in jars in my jar spot.
It smelled good right after drying. Smells good now. I dunno . Would it have smelled better had I dried it “properly?” Maybe, but it smells dank even with the above treatment.
What exactly gives that hay smell I hear about if not too warm, too quick, with light…
Dried leaves do have a bad smell IMO…but when you cut those off it goes away…
It doesn’t smell 100% like hay. Not that smelly. I can. I’ll put mine on your fans. 48 hours. It also has something to do with your filters in your tent. I run mind 24/7 that cuts down on the smell.
They want it so bad that they offered me a job. Which you should know I think no way I’m gonna leave my family. @Eagles009 I am going to go up in January check it out. I was there a few months ago some of those pictures that I had posted. I can around them back up
I hope it works out for you man. Good to have something to be excited about!
I’m looking into it things here are pretty good. There’s a lot of things about the state that I do not like. I’m sure it’s the same way where you live. Maine is a very long way away from here. I don’t know if you noticed this morning it was a little cooler. I do not like cold weather. @Eagles009 that would be a long way for you to come visit. Lol I’m just joking. I don’t care about the laws but something is fixing to change because they have a big hemp farm coming in when they do that there’s nothing they can do about it. I think if you’re low-key which I am. I do this for myself. Plus I got your Mac I got to do something with that
