I have in the past when I used to brew beer but not in ages. A very fun high energy plant.
Hops are a little too indica for me. I kid. Grew at one time Sterling, Centennial, Willamette, Nugget, and maybe a couple of others. Moved in the dead of winter from that place so never got cuttings or dug them up. Cannabis has definitely replaced hops for me as all of my beer comes from the liquor store these days as opposed to my own kegs or bottles.
How did you get started with hops?
I got some rhizomes off a kijiji guy
I used to brew a lot. Bought some rhizomes from a local garden/brew supply store.
They’ve been growing at this house 6 or 7 years now.
I did all grain brewing when I lived in St. Louis. The local homebrewing club (St. Louis Brews) would give away rhizomes when established plants had extra. I grew Cascade, Centennial, and Chinook in my yard from those donations. Couldn’t find a pic of mine growing - they didn’t look anything like these!
Here is a collar in action, suspending a bag full of hops in the brew kettle during the boil
After my diagnosis as diabetic, I don’t drink beer anymore (too many carbs) and sold/gave away all my brewing gear. I always preferred weed to alcohol anyway…
Oh hell yes!
