Hello everyone. I am about 3 weeks out from my cut date. All the big fan leaves on my plants have turned completely yellow. Are they providing any useful help for my plants or are they just hanging there? Some of them are blocking light to the bud sites but my biggest concern is a security issue. Everything around them is completely green and the big yellow leaves make the plant’s stick out. So should I cut them or let them stay? Any information will be greatly appreciated, thank you.
More than two thirds brown, throw it to the ground!
Thanks ryasco.Tomorrow it’s ,"Off with their Leaf’s! "
Leaves contain a lot of pigment called “chlorophyll”, that looks green, and also produces the plant food required to grow. Chlorophyll is continuously being broken down as it makes these sugars.
Late in flower, as chlorophyll isn’t being reproduced as much, and the green colour recedes, the leaf reveals another hidden pigment present in the leave called carotenoids (yellow, orange & red). While carotenoids are present, photosynthesis is still occurring, absorbing violet to green light.
I personally wouldn’t pull any leaves until they turn “brown” or dry up, unless there’s an issue. Although she may not look beautiful, yellow leaves may still play a part in helping the plant develop fully.
Hope this helps
Thanks Mr.Team Overgrow.(seems impolite saying ‘thanks dumme’,lol) Something else to consider. This is a way cool forum!
Are these plants in the pots?
Yes, five gallon buckets.
If I remember right these were put outside in Jan. If so when you cut them them down, replant them in the ground to reveg. Just leave a few branches.
If I’m confused about a different member I’m sorry.
I thought about doing that. Just cutting the buds off and letting the plant continue to grow because spring is so close.
How’s the ground look in late May.
That change’s year to year. Last year at this time, I had over 4 feet of water in my yard. All my plant’s were in containers on stands. My entire veg garden is on stands also because I never know what the water will do. Right now I am super lucky that the water is cooperating, lol.
Damn that sounds like a dope growing Nightmare.
Mr. Grape Ape, I have work early tomorrow but I would love to continue our conversation sometime. I would like to explain to you my unique growing situation and ask you some strain specific questions, if you have the time.
I have time shoot me PM.
Pull those yellow leafs off…
