Seed popping comments

Yup! No worries here. I was just cutting up anyways. I have my way. It works for me. I appreciate other opinions. You are very welcome here, there on my thread, anywhere. We are all working toward a common goal.

There’s no right or wrong way to do it, there are simply many ways to do it.

I just chuck a handful of seeds in my pot and walk away.

The natural way, which has worked for millions of years.

Thank you for your post and knowledge. I could have used this last month. What you posted was the same as the instructions I got from the A pot for pot kit I got. But you went further.

I will try this next time.

If I were one of you awesome neighbors from the North, I’d nominate @DougDawson to be Canada’s 24th Prime Minister! I like folks that build bridges.

Hey @OldUncleBen , finally home from work and can type again. I hate having to respond using my thumbs on a phone screen. I would be happy to accept your C99 BX seeds but yes I am up here in Canada. Got to be honest though, not sure when I would get them into the rotation but I do love that strain.

I hear ya, I refuse to use phones. I find this site has a learning curve too and one reason I prefer sites for dummies like me - RIU. For example, I’ve been able to quote a post but how I did it I have no clue!

I do sterilize my seeds a few hours in a mild bleach solution, say, 1/2 tsp bleach / qt. water. I then rinse and soak overnight in water I’ve run thru a drinking water filter.

If you have a viable embryo such that the radicle is able to break out of dormancy and out of the shell then it should continue on. If you haven’t already read my ditty. The radicle is already about 4" long by the time the cotyledons push thru the soil.

If your soil is not sanitary then you may be losing them to a soil borne fungus called pythium. I addressed this in that germ ditty.

Good luck

Send me an addy and what I can expect regarding any issues shipping to Canada. Please keep them cold in a fridge until needed. All the C99 back crosses I made 20 years ago popped and grew vigorously. I was shocked. BTW, there is no difference in the original phenotype, it’s high, etc. That’s how stable they are. I have the Bros Grimm cubing story archived if interested…I think.

Hell, at my age I’d be happy to be able to bend over and cut my toenails without one big grunt!

Thanks, and best to you.

If you can find the link absolutely, I love reading through threads. Never know when you will find the next nugget of knowledge to go in your tool box.

Was it related to the way you started them?

I read this entire thread to see if anyone mentioned this. He also said things like hydrogen peroxide and bleach people use will kill off this beneficial bacteria. I am not saying he is right or wrong but I know he knows a lot more than me so I at least consider the things he says. I have had good luck with all of this… H2o2, soaking, paper towels and directly planting in soil to germ.

I know when I. Getting dressed, and I get to the shoes, I have to take a break between shoes. I think it’s age. My wife says I need to lose weight.
What does SHE know!

I feel that, as HLVd has been reported as being passed through up to 10% of seeds that come from an infected plant, pre-sterilization of at least the seed surface prior to germination seems to be a personal choice one might be willing to consider.

Soaking seeds in milk would work too.

To quote, just highlight, and hit “quote”
