Well we don’t talk politics here… used to, caused too much trouble.
Welcome home though, we’re happy to have you.
Keep that info coming lol
I have it, and it is LONG, talking about 12 pages. Will start a new thread “The Cinderella 99 story”.
Thanks for the warm welcome.
C99 story, FWIW. The Cinderella 99 story. A FAQ from a friend close to the Bros about 20 years ago
@breadwinner Seeds are “rinsed” when you drain off the bleach water and replace with fresh water. If rinsing feels good, then do it, no big deal.
There we go, I agree
One thing I learned in the kitchen, no matter how tight the recipe, each set of hands makes a different product 100% of the time. It’s not good to restrict that. That’s where the light comes from, in bending like the reed, not standing fast like the stone.
Are you having germ problems as well? @DougDawson was having them as well…this is my take:. DON’T USE PAPER TOWELS, why you ask?
Have you noticed when you germ beans in a small amount of water the water becomes cloudy? If left in this cloudy water, germ rates are significantly negatively effected. This is why I use at least 6 ounces of water to pop seeds, or it must be changed periodically.
How much water is in a paper towel?? A quarter of an ounce??? This isn’t enough water to keep the area clean for proper germination, I’d say.
Also, I’d throw it out there that this plant begs to be grown. You show her the slightest bit of attention and she’s on your lap like a kitten, pushing into you for more attention.
Ever since eve gave Adam his apple he’s had a lump in his throat about symbiotic (mankind and plantkind) agriculture.
It’s not unnatural for life to seek out life. Many species have become extinct due to the existence of man, but even more before we ever got here.
This is totally a time of flux, and we need to find the solder that binds the now with the past and the future
It’s the unmeasurable key ingredient in every time tested recipe
I concur, I’ve tried a bunch of different ways But , tried and true never fails me 2 paper towels and 2 Styrofoam plates and voila
The only issue I have had/seen with paper towels is due to timing. If left far beyond cracking the root hairs will grow into the paper fibers and really slow seedlings down when pulled out and planted. That said, the type of towel matters. The rough brown sort like @DougDawson has there are better than the refined, bleached and textured sorts.
The most effective method I’ve used is @JohnnyPotseed ’s , worm castings. I believe that is down to the gibberellin found there.
It could be cuz, I haven’t got the scientific background to do a deep dive into the wherefores & howcomes lol I think it also has a lot to do with all of the beneficial bacteria and microbials
Yeah, the type of paper towel does make a difference. Roots don’t seem to penitrate the ones I use. I do have to put regular paper towel outside them to retain moisture but it works well for me. I still have to agree with @OldUncleBen about putting seeds straight into the medium as it removes any chance of damaging the tap root. But I still use paper towel as my go to.
Yes I tend to agree. The microbes and bacteria help open the envelope and the hormones kind of jump start the growth.
Yes I concur I also go from towel to straight worm castings and Until the tap root is inoculated with microbes The tap Root will not grow root hairs
I think I am the only one that felled at the worm castings. I tried twice
Yes direct sow is best but you have to have extra seed stock to make up for the soil eating some them I mean they were just gone lol
I’m sorry to hear that. It is kinda like a terrarium. Didn’t work until I had the heat mat going. Find the right dampness and temperature for the microbes to bloom and it’s pretty fast.
