Just to add : Just smoking joints is best for Old People - at their age the lungs couldn’t handle the vape, ect - Keep it Simple and Natural then smoke forever till 100 yrs OLD !!! (this message is for old people)

Had a pet emergency, so couldn’t do the test after last post. I just did it now. 1st no, 2nd no, 3rd, 4th and 5th is where it starts up

After 3 can you set it on rad to dry and then start counting again : )

 I’m going back to coconut granules, yes dry

To continue the test or do you think they’re the better media longer term?

Cat has Ataxia, so I’m looking at neurological issues now…I’m hoping it’s transitory, but I’m more likely having to see a feline neurologist.

I got to thinking, how safe is inhaling minimal ammonia fumes. Have to assume once activated, the fumes mix in w the smoke traveling through the chambers. Water filters some out, but not all. Considering my throat was so sore, irritated and hard to swallow for an entire day I have to attribute this to trace ammonia…so what’s are the reactions

  • Inhalation of lower concentrations can cause coughing, and nose and throat irritation.

So maybe it’s good absorption at first, but the more you smoke through it, ammonia starts to affect the throat. I didn’t even feel anything until I woke up to swallow saliva. I just don’t think I can recommend this filter. The ammonia is caused by coconut carbon and aquatic charcoal carbon. Combusting material butane or electric made no difference to activating after only 2-3 hits. Basically the only safe way to use is to take 2 hits, dump and refill. I don’t see this as efficient or convenient. At that rate, one would blow through a lot of carbon in a session or large gatherings. I think I’m just gonna send it back, even though they take 20% as a restocking fee to refund. Good theory in concept, but unfortunately flawed. I’d be back to retry if they find a way to neutralize ammonia from emitting in the carbon, but right now that is the issue, regardless of how it’s lit or what type of carbon is used. I have no answer how to neutralize ammonia when smoke passes through it more than twice. I consider this an impasse and why I have to return.

If you are concerned with toxic effects of smoke You must go with vapor

Rohs complaint parts is what you are looking for in the heater -Resistor wire Heat exchanger

These are encapusulated in ceramic and stainless jacket in the underdog

The heater in most vapes would be Rohs complaint and ceramic

Its dialing in your breath and setting the heat so there is no burnt taste whatsoevr

Its better than smoke once you figure it out

I grind in wood grinder that is also a box with screen in it…It dries out overnight

It works better…very dry

Its taken 15 years goofing around with these vapes

Personally I think @hawkman is right, how one chooses to smoke/vape depends on age and other factors of health. I believe it was easier to use water pipes, bowl pipes etc when younger, now that I’m older 47 I’m finding I go back to rolling each and every time delivers the concentration of flavor cleanly, don’t have to pull hard for a nice hit you can feel and not burnt/weird aftertaste on exhale. Perhaps it just doesn’t smoke like it used due to age and other health issues. I have reflux issues from GERD so air pull might be a strain on the esophagus. The flavor for me is not as strong as rolling up. That I don’t understand but in my young days I didn’t have that problem or strange aftertaste so I can only say it must be age and other health factors.

@OriginalDankmaster96 — Have that also GERD !! what a pain ---- that’s what I meant. know many 80 yr old smokers with a lot of growing cultivating experience .(not in the year time frame yet BUT we will all get their at some point) water bongs are really a lung killer BUT vapes take the lead. With all the young folks using vapes they might not make it to 80 + years (if it even matters now-a-days in relation to how the World is changing)

hey Hawkman.
I hope you are well.
I too suffer from major GERD. I started Omeprazole daily about 6 months ago. I don’t have symptoms anymore. ask your doc if you can. it was a life changer. i did gain a couple lbs just after starting it, but that might be mostly my own doing. it’s hard to tell.

PS: Your gear is hitting the tent the in August. Thanks again.

Yes indeed, I’ve heard researchers and scientists say just “smoke” the joint if you have to when the popcorn lungs started appearing. Yeah no thanks to carts it vape pens. I’d rather hack phlegm up than have tiny holes developing. Always bad in the morning but it’s clears up and the airways are pretty fine after. I’ve also noticed after a vape it’s heavy feeling in the lungs and chest because I’ve sucked more air than I would’ve what’s rolled up. I feel post modern ideology tries demonize tradition, which includes smoking as health fanaticism and isn’t entirely truthful. It’s only what’s convenient is truth to the belief system…

Really depends on what carts you use, they’re not all the same. Nothing wrong with clean cannabis oil

will do thanks for the information - forget the meds name but take it in the morning @splinter7 and I sure agree with you about vaping @OriginalDankmaster96 . See all the youth smoking vapes, dabs, ect just think of your lungs and howlonmg they can take all that smoke. was behind a driver who’s car filled up with smoke and I couldn’t see nothing but smok ein the car - it’s was so funny - then once he/she let the smoke out - couldn’t believe the amount of smoke that came out of the car It was funny BUT sad !

Who here flies with a FlowerPot? Anyone rocking a Pinky DIY unit?

How much is it worth investing in one?

I skipped the Pinky and went for a Taroma. I’m quite happy with the power but the airflow could be less restricted for sure. Maybe time for a mix of 4mm and 3mm balls?

As for the investment… I think it depends on how much it’s worth to you, and how much you are willing to fiddle with it and mess around to get things working right. Also how often you use the thing.

The titanium bowls are pretty awesome though, I will say.

Right now I’m more on the fence about the safety around it than about the cost. I mean the cost is not something I’d dish out willy nilly even if topping out around 150 bucks at most but what’s more offputting to the idea is that these things stay hot for a while and in a house where children also live, well, you get the idea. I really like the idea of the pinky and I think I may still invest in one, but if I do it’ll probaby be a few years down the road when the kids are older…
