in my experience sending the replacement, is the fastest way to make the initial pack appear.
That’s in the “Murphy’s Law” book, but I forget the sub-section.

Yes, this has happened to me a few times. I’ve sent replacements than get a message a week later the original showed up. 
Shit happens and the post office can be slow sometimes.
