Tent Heater Question

Temps are fine in my tents now since I put the old lights back in
Funny thing is the old lights have the little built in fans

They keep the tents around 75-80 the new lights I bought I couldn’t get the temps over 60,kinda strange the driver on the new lights gives off a lot of heat

I have been looking at the burp again. I like the cob light. That runs a lot of wattage. But I like the light.

You bought this

No. I have been looking at it. The wattage is to much. 192 is pushing it. Aground 430 or so. No that a bit much. Heavy. I do like the light. Last year that light was half that price. So where the two I just got. They are almost 100$ more each. I’m done with lights for a minute. Old stiff is cool. Lol

I enjoy coming here. Some good hands here.

No dedicated circuit. I triple checked to make sure no heat on the cord or at outlet an it hardly ever runs to keep it at temp.

I grow in my garage in tents and a closet. The garage is basically my lung room and I have 2 1500 watt floor heaters. Those still struggle to heat the grow spaces to at least 72 when it’s 28 degrees or below. I hang reptile heaters in my grow spaces and it is 20 degrees here at the moment and the tents are 76-78. Very inexpensive and less hazards or chances for an elect mishap :love_you_gesture:

Yo! I like that, are those just shop fixtures with some of these ceramic heating elements in them?

2 Pack 100W Infrared Ceramic Heat Lamp,Black Reptile Emitter Bulb for Pet Coop Heater Chicken Lizard Turtle Brooder Aquarium Snake, No Harm No Light, ETL Listed Amazon.com: WUHOSTAM 2 Pack 100W Infrared Ceramic Heat Lamp, Black Reptile Heat Bulb No Light Emitter, Pet Heater for Aquarium and Terraium, Chicken Coop, Lizard, Turtle, Brooder, Snake, No Harm, ETL Listed : Pet Supplies

I like the idea that those could be up off of the floor, saving some footprint space

I use those ceramic heaters for Bubbles, my bird as it’s chilly as fuck. I got up to pee and when I checked the thermometer in the bedroom it was only 16.8c… and his pen (in the bedroom) was at 19.7c…

So, it was early rise for both of us as his “lights-on” has both full spectrum LED’s and UVB lamps so it gets the top of his pen up near 30c and the bleed-off heat helps keep us warm

He’s singing away right now doing his morning routine. Fun fact: he can be heard up to a mile away if he’s really going at it… and he’s 3 feet from my fucking head right now  (i love him so much :parrot:  )
Edit:

make sure you get full ceramic versions! you may want to pay the premium at a pets store (reptile dept) for the beefy ones that can’t melt.

Good to know, I’ll check the fixtures I’ve got, probably not the ones I need I would imagine

They really do work like a champ. Heat where you need it at only 100 watts.

@LegsMahoney , the one @Cbizzle is using is the exact unit I was gonna suggest, Repti Zoo brand 8.5inch.

You can see the “no fucks given” size of the ceramic casing that supports the bulb housing. The deep dome also means that the bulb will always stay inside the unit and not melt your tent on an honest accident moment.

I really like this idea, I think I might get a couple to try it, the heating element says right on it that it’s waterproof and “explosion proof” which, you know, sounds good. :joy::joy:

Any reason these guys wouldn’t do the trick?

The heating elements come in a pack of two so I figure two fixtures in a 3x3 might do the trick

Nothin so long as you run under 100w each. If you’re going for a 2x 50-75w ceramic than no issues; but if you aim for 100-150w I personally (opinion from using these with reptiles and birds over years) would aim for a full ceramic build; aka: overbuilt.

Spending more $ on fixtures is always cheaper then dealing with the aftermath of even a small fire

You’re situation sounds very much like mine. It could but for my 2x2 I ended up getting a 20"x20" heating pad to provide the undersoil radiant heat and have the tent on a foam pad to insulate it from the ground. The room this tent in doesn’t get as cold as the basement, so I’m lucky that this will just do it.

For the temps your referring too using a combo could be the most effective (albiet more costly). I can confirm from practice the pad works while I cannot (for a 2x2) say anything about the ceramic. In a space that small I’d considering adding the heat inline to my air-feed going into the tent (like I did with my 2x4).
