Throw in a crème anglaise and you got some serious moves.
Oh shit I actually have that game-on already!
Mrs. P loves her drinking custard so I make it as a treat every now and then. Often I’ll give a bowl of it and she’s all happy until she finds that’s it’s a bowl of custard *hiding a chocolate muffin" where she becomes overjoyed so all is well.
I got into pastries during lockdown and I can make very nice ones but shit they’re a lot of work.
I gave up on them along time ago, figured out the exact lesson and also if i made them i would eat them, better just to not make them and have them as a treat occasionally while supporting some independent buisness making a living making those tasty treats
I would do this. In fact I do for chocolate croissants (butter-baker.com) but it’s expensive and is a rare treat. Mrs Foreigner always gets me one of their cakes for my birthday.
There is sparse independent business near me. It’s either loblaws or the Asian grocery.
Loblaws makes some half decent turnovers but it’s a stretch to call them pastries.
If you jump on the ferry, I live about 3 minutes from the dock on the island, smokes-a-Hoy
Some of the best sushi I’ve had, that isn’t a mortgage payment, is just out of van in Chilliwack… If you’re interested, I’ll find the name. It gets you a little closer to the mountains too, if it’s a nice day, it’s a great place to sit back and enjoy (there’s a pub in the same strip that has a patio too )
Amazing! Wish I could make it across the way this time, but stuck downtown for work, youll have to find me the name for the sushi, I plan to come back out and would travel far and wide for good sushi!
Try this place. The broth is yuzu based so quite unique. I used to get this in Tokyo and was stoked when it opened in van Afuri Ramen restaurant is open in Vancouver on Main Street - Vancouver Is Awesome
Oh and I always loved this place for.sushi https://www.shirovancouver.com/
I absolutely agree, good sushi is worth the trip! The place is called Hana Sushi in Chilliwack. Either they have taken over the pub at the end, or my mind is playing with me (very likely there days, lol), but in either case they have a patio to enjoy the sushi on
Anyone else notice the price of olive oil has gone up a lot? Just read an article that its up an average of 15 percent worldwide. bought some yesterday and it was 50 percent higher and i thought itvwas a mistake, nope, new normal for every brand in the store. What cost 10 dollars just 2 weeks ago is now running me 15. Wow, just wow.
Amazing!
Whoa! I had no idea Afuri was here, I had it in Tokyo the last time I was there, going to be making my way there asap!
Reasonable price for a Bluenoser looking to pick up a cheap press.
LOL, what’s with the “used once”?
That sounds like the start of a good story…
Good score!
Cheers

I’d read that as “I tried it once, that quarter oz of nugs added to nothing.”
I have better for less that I got from a friend but that was pre covid lol
