My dryer is set to operate in the high 70’s to low 80’s. Depending on the environment it is running in. Normal operating room environment is 40-60%rh and 60-78degF. This temp range after years of testing showed max retension of pontency and terps. In lab testing. This temp range also beat slow and low temp drying in laboratory testing. 60,62,64,68 degF. This is just the drying process. No curing is happening. Drying only. If you have any other questions please let me know. I also have a info website HerbsNOWdryer.com
Anything you want to know. I will tell you. I built my dryer on data not opinions and preferences. I have a laboratory background that helped me test and built it👍
I’m curious myself and definitely have questions.
Does the fast drying cause harshness? And how does it out perform an air conditioned room with racks? It’s too small of a unit for me to use but Im interested in the science behind what you’re saying.
If you’re using a dehydrator just pull the wiring for the heating element right now. I’ve used mine like that, stacks of 12. Works decently well but not perfect. You HAVE to rotate the racks and buds because the airflow is uneven.
Absolutly fellow grower. You see the key to this method is WAITING FOR THE STEMS TO BREAK. This may sound easy but yet it can be the hardest thing to do for first time users. Why? Because the cannabis community has instill fear into all growers about drying, temps, terps, air flow you name it. So many will prematurely stop the drying process early. Doing this will cause issues down the road after you jar up. Haysmell being number 1. Why do we wait for stems to break? Simple, by the time the stems can break chlorophyll will have broken down to a level that will NOT impact flavor and will NOT be harsh. You see this is yet another thing the cannabis community dropped the ball on. Chlorophyll is a unstable molecule. It breaks down rapidly. It does not takes weeks to break down. It has NOTHING to do with haysmell. If you expand the dryer to 8 trays and get a little practice loading under your belt you can dry 16oz(dry weight) in the dryer. My best run was 23oz of dry bud using 8 trays.buds were pretty dense that will play a role. If I missed anything just ask.
