Gotcha, thanks guys! I’ll definitely keep reading up and checkout some grow diaries , very interested in trying some LRs out…
The Landrace Team, The Real Seed Company, Ace Seeds, Khalifa Genetics. These are some examples that work with landraces. Of these, the only one I’ve cultivated is Ace Seeds, and I really recommend it. You’ll truly find what they describe about the strain, and the cool thing is that Dubi does a job of cleaning up the landrace. He takes the variety and removes undesired traits (like hermaphroditism, for example) and then puts it up for sale, so he does a pretty interesting job! The others, I haven’t had the opportunity to try yet, but Landrace Team and Real Seed Company, if I’m not mistaken, sell pure landrace without working on the genetics. So, it will come with the issues that a landrace can have, issues for us, growers, right? Because in nature, that’s not a problem, haha.
Yes. I have dealt with the Real Seed Company and they are GREAT. They collect the seeds from the “place of origin”. Very authentic and their blog has a lot of good information and history.
Those are beautiful plants.
Unfortunately, this cycle I couldn’t give her the best treatment – pH issues, pests, changes in the environment, and now they’re in a spot with less sun. Anyway, I cloned all the plants and hope to give them better care next cycle. They deserve it, haha!
Hey @weedcvlt . Do you ever find wild pot plants growing in your area?
Does #4 mean there were more Satori plants?
If so, please tell me what they were like in terms of structure?
Thanks
I grew 5 seeds, ended up with 2 dudes. All of 'em got a similar setup, sturdy plants, short gaps between nodes, and wide leaves. #3 and #4 are leaning more towards a floral vibe, and #2’s got that strong scent. Unfortunately, I couldn’t clone #2. They all got hit by broad mites, had to quarantine #4 'cause she got hit the worst. They’re flowering in different spots, but now #4’s looking prettier than the sisters. I’ll drop pics of the others as soon as I can.
Thanks
So, out of the 5, none had a more open structure.
If you pruned the lower branches, would they be good one cola plants?
I’m thinking of planting Satori soon…
I got the impression that outdoors they tend to have a more open structure. When I moved them to LED, the internode distance decreased. When pruned, she forms a bunch of colas, but I think she’d be good as a single cola plant. You gotta try it out, honestly. If I were you, I’d give it a shot. So far, she’s a plant that’s pleasing me, and she bravely survived all my screw-ups. She’s proven to be quite resilient, hahaha.
Managed to clone #3 and #4. I’ll take them through a few more cycles and try to mess up less next time. I collected pollen from both males and dusted some lower branches on all of them to harvest a few seeds and take it to the next generation to see what comes out. But again, if I were you, I’d give it a shot. They’re cheap seeds compared to what’s out there, and she’s proven to be resistant and vigorous. It’s worth a try.
Hey, bro, sorry for the delayed response! Nah, here in Brazil, the only wild plants are the seeds from Paraguayan brick weed, hahaha. I believe the heirloom ones we had around here, like Manga Rosa and Cabeça de Nego, got lost due to prohibition.
I growed Satori. I think it was in 2009. It seems to me that then it was easier to find taller, sativa phenotypes. I grew it again ten years later and found no such plants. But the high is still great, no doubt about it. I will probably run C99 and Maui mango haze with Satori soon, so if there is luck and will, maybe some pollination will happen
And please if you can share. What numbers are you aiming for when using raw salts? I am interested in flowering.
And do you use RO water?
In vege and first weeks of12/12 i used RO. Then i read on scienceinhydroponics.com that calcium carbonate from water is available to plants.
I add it to the hydrobuddy (my tap water has about 60ppm Ca+) and started using tap water during flowering and start to give less calcium nitrate. Final Ca number is same but it looks like I ran into trouble
Indeed, the phenotypes I’ve come across aren’t sativa; I found wide, almost prehistoric leaves, and recent crops of it are producing phenotypes leaning in that direction. Not that it’s a problem, I actually like it.
Sure, I’ll share! In fact, I create my mix using an example from a fertilizer called Croptech. The owner provided a table with the minimum guarantees, so I take those numbers and use them in HydroBuddy.
I use artesian well water; I avoid tap water because the ppm is too high. I wanted to use RO water, but I haven’t been able to buy the equipment yet. In the future, I plan to use RO water. The numbers are as follows:
I mix it, and the final solution ends up with almost 1000 ppm. I add water until it reaches 800 ppm; I haven’t felt the need to feed it with a higher ppm. For now, it’s been sufficient.
On the JR Croptech website, they provide a calculator where it displays the macros and micros of their formula, then you just use it in HydroBuddy.
He encouraged people to make his recipe themselves if they couldn’t buy it. There were some issues on Instagram, so he released the analysis and the calculator on his website.
Sour 78 ( OG 78 X HEADBAND X SOUR DIESEL) “High CBD” - Sun Grown Genetics
This is the most fragrant plant of this cycle, I’m not great at identifying smells but I get fruits and a sourness, it’s delicious. Sometimes when I smell the buds it reminds me of yogurt, that fermented fruit smell, but in the tent sometimes it smells like gum. Anyway, the smell is amazing! But I found the phenotype strange, it looks almost like a haze to me, what do you think? The structure doesn’t look much like the genetic background, or like the other sour 78s I’ve grown or seen pictures of, I found it weird.
