Thumbs down button

Curse words are negative and divisive but i dont see any well known members here slinging them around without forethought. Comparing OG to facebook or redditt is foolish.

Positivity requires negativity for relevance. If people think a thumbs down is negative or divisive I totally disagree. Many blessings and much love

I know why all these things i’m way to high to understand : the badges. Something about this. Maybe.

I disagree… you act like you need negative for contrast… you do not…

We can just achieve positive

What if the person who gives the thumbs down is actually wrong though?

Head’s up everyone on the likes, LemonadeJoe increased the amount a couple days ago :+1:
Since then I don’t think I have run out.

In this case the posts you’re describing would be worth flagging due to being off topic and/or other valid reasons. Mods will see it and hide the post (unless the flagging is frivolous).
And I agree with you that it sucks to feel sidelined in the moment while a thread is highjacked or jackass-ed, etc.
I also forget about the block function

Disagreement is not negative, its the way to understanding.

That’s the issue, most people think if you don’t agree with them then you are being negative. It’s pretty wild.

And another thumbs down for @Hashpants

There are clearly some bad actors that find themselves in here on Overgrow from time to time. They don’t deserve the time of day with genuine verbal replies and I think novice and newer members would benefit from seeing a lot of respected members showing disapproval without giving that negatively the attention it seeks.

The dislike button isn’t a means to show negativity, it’s a way to point it out for others to see. I can see how some feel it’s offensive.

Why even have likes then if they’re not unlimited? Limiting positivity? That’s perplexing to me. Many blessings and much love

I never said dont disagree… disagreeing without explanation is arrogant

Same for likes, why press the little heart when we can better express those things with our words? Many blessings and much love

But what do you think it will become?

Posting disagreement when someone is crapping up the trading thread just adds more clutter.

I think it will become a tool, especially if moderation keeps a handle on abuse. Many blessings and much love

If its out of place so would be a dislike…

Because a positive doesn’t have to be explained its usually just a hey thanks cool or I like that etc but the negative would have to be explained because someone would most likely disagree.

ITT: the reason for having a Chat feature

I think it will become a childish use of an emoji in the end… like trollitup

Without a dislike button, threads have the chance to turn into ongoing debates like this one here, going on right now. A dislike button could have saved a hundred or so comments in this thread I think. Extrapolating that to the entire website I think it would be helpful. Many blessings and much love
