I’m trying to trim my plants and need some advice,
I wanted to trim them at the point where they are symmetrical… where there is already a tiny new branch on either side, just opposite each other… I was able to top them that way and got some amazing clones out of the tops (see my posts under “My first Diary of 2023” in the Grow Diaries section for pictures). Unfortunately, my plant’s branches don’t seem to any symmetrical little branches, they are all offset.
I’m fairly new at this… didn’t try to trim the branches of my last crop, but I have heard that you get more buds if you top AND trim them… more buds is always a good thing.
Any advice? Should I trim them anyway? Here are a couple of photos to show the asymmetry.

Just keep it as even as possible. Plants dont grow symmetrical for too long. When you’re topping at the 5th node etc from seed. You usually still have good symmetry then but honestly it’s not worth stressing over

That’s indicative of a plant that has reached sexual maturity, for lack of a better term. Nothing you can do to influence it. Good luck!

I’m totally all about topping and pruning but I’m not sure why you want to keep them symmetrical? Usually you would want to prune off the branches growing inwards and leave those growing out, so this would almost never be symmetrical, but clarify the why behind that and there may be a better answer.
@Naptown916:
I don’t necessarily WANT them to be symmetrical, I just thought they would be and was concerned about trimming them because they aren’t… I did mention this was my first time?
So if the asymmetry is expected and common, I will go ahead and trim off the tips without worrying so much.
Thanks!

Thank you, I’m glad it isn’t something to worry about.
