TopShelfs trees (Part 4)

My brother has a remedy for those blasted ticks. His blood is 56 proof. Them things take one bite and fall to the ground.
He says it works anyway. LOL

I live on the Columbia river, so we get great salmon and steelhead runs. I fish the peninsula regularly with my x and her husband, who live over there. We usually go halibut and salmon fishing, crabbing, and shrimping a couple times a year in the Straights of Juan de Fuca(sp?).

I use a rosemary spray on my dogs. Works pretty good.
We have 20 acres. 10 of woods. Deer, coyote, fox running and dropping ticks everywhere

We have them pretty bad. The Lyme infection rate is pretty high also. I think a new one popped up recently that they are carrying also

@sober thank you Iā€™ll definitely ask about that.

Isnā€™t there an infection from them that causes an allergy to meat proteins? We get them bad here as well, especially after mild winters and wet springs.

Man thatā€™s awesome! Iā€™m a die hard trout/salmon guy but steelhead specifically are my go to. Iā€™m a stoneā€™s throw from the Niagara so Iā€™m blessed, but Iā€™ve seen the stuff you guys get out there, and just like Niagara thatā€™s BIG WATER, just the way I like it! Sturgeon are also legal out there no? Hopefully one day Iā€™ll make my way out there, itā€™s definitely high up on my list , absolutely gorgeous scenery to boot and forest for days!

Really? Iā€™d love to find something natural, lately everything that used to work just isnā€™t. I pulled more off of her last year than her entire previous 9 years, crazy !

I donā€™t know it was you guys or some other country that export salmon to the middle East, but damn that fish is tasty and very pink lookingā€¦

And all I did was toss it in the pan with some salt and pepperā€¦
Salmons man :drooling_face::drooling_face::drooling_face:
Had it once, taste stuck with me ever sinceā€¦

Yes the sturgeon are legal in some sections, there are some true dinosaurs that lay just below Rock Island Dam, but too big and closed waters. Iā€™ve never fished for em, but have eaten it. Really oily, but good fried in a panko crust.

Itā€™s called Alpha-gal syndrome. My oldest brother has it. He canā€™t eat any mammal protein or product created using it.

From the Mayo Clinic.

Foods that can cause a reaction include:

Red meat, such as beef, pork or lamb.
Organ meats.
Products made from mammals, such as gelatins or dairy products.

Symptoms of alpha-gal syndrome may include:

Hives, itching, or itchy, scaly skin.
Swelling of the lips, face, tongue and throat, or other body parts.
Wheezing or shortness of breath.
Stomach pain, diarrhea, upset stomach or vomiting.

My brother has it so bad he canā€™t even pet his own dog without wearing gloves and even then sometimes it gets to him.
It is a complete pain in the ass for him to shop and cook foods. Everything he buys has to be read for possible animal products. He even has to carry epinephrine. His breathing can become impaired in severe episodes.
Even soy is so close to the protein that he canā€™t use it.

Thatā€™s sad Bro, sorry to hear that man :pensive:
Nobody should suffer that kind of painā€¦

Salmon is soooo popular ! I never realized just how much until recently when reading and researching about the ā€œfish farmsā€ it really is the nicest looking meat too. Sadly the ones from here are mostly full of poison anymore, but out in British Columbia and Alaska they are still clean and thatā€™s where a lot of the farms are too. It can get expensive too, I always look at my local store just to stay ontop of prices, itā€™s insane what they are charging for whole ā€œfreshā€ fish or fillets now, especially of local caught steelhead and the salmon is almost double that.

We have them here too, especially at the hydro damn as it drops to 109ā€™ - 174ā€ they are highly protected here, but I have seen some that are scary , they truly are dinosaurs, such cool fish. I witnessed a breeding frenzy once, it was insane they were writhing and rolling on the surface intertwined, then randomly a 6-7-8+ giant would come out of the water completely and launch a few feet in the air to backflop onto the pile, it was truly something awesome, we stopped fishing for like an hour and just watched until they moved further down, I bet there was 75+ or more involved. Absolute giants.

We did this for a year and it was great if a little too expensive. Beats the crap out of supermarket fish:

I feel so blessed to have access to fresh caught seafood regularly. Itā€™s so expensive to buy.

Oh my god, I knew it was bad, thatā€™s insane. And all from a little blood sucker, this is what scares TF out of me, like truly does. And Iā€™ll be messed up for days everytime I have one on me. I have a friend who doctors couldnā€™t figure out what was wrong with her for like a year, really sick. Itā€™s Lyme disease they just recently discovered, damn Iā€™m sorry to read that, for real.

It really is quite expensive but the quality is top notch.

If you hate tilapia and are bored of salmon (both of which I am) then this is a very good choice.

Real grassroots stuff ā€œcaught by Jacques who fished these waters as a boy with his grandfather in a 25ā€™ trawler.ā€

That kind of thing.
