Trike's Grow Journey

Nearing the end of this grow, but feeling a bit ‘Aloof’ about it.

Not great news. Last Sunday I fell apart into an emotional pile of mush. After very stressful week at work, I got called on Saturday night to work on a production outage. It ended when I was unable to get a vender support person on the call. The next morning, trying to do my hands on work and coordinate vendor support was finally too much for me. Last night I was finally able to stay asleep at night for more than a few hours (‘terminal insomnia’).

I’m now on 2 weeks off for stress and will be heading out to our little cottage in NW Ontario Monday morning for 9 days. My grow has only few weeks left. No one I trust is available to water while I’m away. Monday morning I plan on putting the pots in 2 inches of water with and have lights dimmed to 50%. Kind of winging things as usual. Let me know if you this makes sense or have any suggestions. :green_heart:

I’m sorry to hear you are going through all this.

I wish you the best and hope your able to relax your mind on your time off.

That sounds like a plan, set them in a couple of inches of water and hope for the best.

Hang in there @TricycleOfDoom ! I’ve enjoyed reading your grow journal so far, and look forward to seeing you (and your plants) triumph. It looks like your plants have been well cared for. I know it’s hard to leave them alone for extended periods. …Hope you’ll come back nine days later to a tent full of gorgeous buds.

Final update for this run. There were 6 plants, 2 for each strain. I chopped 1 of each strain yesterday and discovered each of them had seeds. I assume the the others will be the same when I get back into town next week.

I know I stressed them a few times…forgetting to check in on the regularly, only to find some of them wilting. I never saw any balls or nanners, but I assume I missed them.

On my next grow I’m going to back to coco perlite in smaller planters.

Thanks for following :green_heart:

That looks like a beautiful place to hang out. …Definitely conducive to stress reduction.

If you’re growing strictly for personal consumption, a few seeds can be a good thing (IMHO).

It has been great for stress @MrGreenJeans

We had a few visitors from the wildlife. A pair of trumpeter swans graced our part of the lake for a few hours on there way back south.

A fox came kept coming around looking for our cat to play with, but he’s too old now for that now. Ravens and gray jays visited daily as well.

We close up and head back to the city tomorrow. Looking very forward soaking a few beans :man_farmer:

I’m starting my new grow using the hempy bucket approach. Since I’m low on CBD flower, I’m running with some regular Abacus seeds (PK & Industrial hemp). Also switched to a smaller tent, a Secret Jarden DP90. It’s going to be tight, but I’ll be flipping to 12/12 once the last 3 have sprouted. I still have my larger tent as a plan b if they become bean stalks.

Here’s a pic from Monarch Hill folks harvesting some Abacus this past week (Facebook). Now I’m really excited to be growing some for myself.

The Abacus in the Pepsi bottles seemed slow to start. But the two taller ones in the back had their roots reach the perlite/reservoir a few days ago and then jumped in size.

Currently feeding them the last of my Dutch Science Bloom, half strength twice a week. When that runs out I’ll be switching to Megacrop.

The two in the Folgers cans are also Abacus and one week old.

My larger 2x4 tent is ready start some uplifting strains. I prefer these over the bottles; less prone to knocking over.

Abacus are progressing. :+1:

And here some more hempy experiments.

First male Abacus identified and chopped.

I’ve been vaping sativa dominant exclusively for several years. But this 50/50 early purple kush x vietnamese black is pleasant change. It’s simultaneously uplifting and body warming; bit of a creeper too.

Day 28 since flip to 12/12.

I composted two males, and here a pic of the four females. The one the left is really tall thirsty and hungry with own feeding schedule.

First off…I’m totally digging the 2 liter bottles. Some people will never understand…lol. I do kind of a hempy deal too. I put holes about an inch or 1.5 inches from the bottom to act as a reservoir of sorts.

It works fantastically! And the amount of plants you can pack into a space using 2 liters…oh, man…soooo many.

Coffee can seed stash…lol

I find that algae develops my bottom perlite layers. But maybe that’s because the my bottles aren’t really right next to each other SOG style.

What kind of soil are you using in your bottles? Any algae?

I’m always interested in simplifying and hempy style is working for me.

Sunshine #4 with some added perlite. My closet is packed, so not much algae growth. When algae does grow, I don’t clean it, as it helps block the light the next round…lol

This is from a plant that’s been flowering for 10ish weeks

I’m not sure how to combat that besides painting black.
Just curious, do you add any hydroton to your hempy mix?

No, never tried hydroton. Have seen others use on other forums.

I wasn’t sure if algae was fatal, doesn’t seem to be. I planned on just letting it go and see what happens…because I’ve got a 1/4 ounce of those Abacus seeds.
