Update: So I topped everything and took about two clones each of what I assume were males and three clones each of the ones that I assume are female. A few have notable pistils indicating female but most aren’t quite there yet and could still end up being either or. They also seemed to recover a bit more after a couple applications of SLF 100, turns out my friend had put too much ph down in the water and then too much ph up multiple times (trying to play balancing act) instead of starting over.
Excited for these, super kushy smells filled the room after taking the tops. Here are some pics below:
Next update will be when I flip them which will be after they recover from the topping and some defoliation. From then on, I’ll update a bit more frequently since they’ll be in flower which is what everyone wants to see lol. Until then
He used to grow so I figured he’d know better lol but guess it’s been almost 4 or more years since he’s had to care for one so it’s safe to say he’s lost his touch. Thanks! I’d like them to stay pretty up until the end!
Question: About to flip these very soon (hopefully this week if work isn’t too hectic), I decided I want to save some pollen this time around but having trouble choosing a male (they’re all very good candidates, which is a first for me). Would it be smarter to A) mix all of the pollen from different males then store it or B) take pollen from each male and store separately? Further, can’t I pollinate different branches with different males as long as they’re the same strain?
Personally I would keep all the pollens separate so down the line if you see some differences you like or dislike, you know what is what. Also yes you can pollinate different branches with the different male pollens and just label the branches with a tag or some sort. I do the same type of thing when I pollenate. Currently have some 2 types of reg pollen and 1 type of fem pollen on different parts of the shrub I have going. PPP, Bubblegum and then the Gelato fem pollen.
Defoliation complete! Although, these plants seem to be a bit more sativa leaning than I expected, worried that I should top them again because I’m not tryna work around a big stretch during flower. I’ll figure it out, will be the difference between flowering this weekend or waiting another week and a half for them to recover from a second topping.
Side note: they still smell pretty pungent. Some have shifted from straight kushy to a kind of candied lime/gassy/Kush. Mind you, these are still in veg and I’m not even doing stem rubs to catch these scents.
I’m sure I have enough, my tent is about 7 ft or more. I’m just bitching lol. Never tried the whole screen of green thing, always say I will but I usually am not pressed enough to try. I’m not even into heavy defoliation or lollipoping unless they’re super leafy and take up a bunch of room.
Update: they have been switched to flower like a week or so ago, nothing much to report besides that. I’ll start adding some pics once they start to grow their respective hairs and sacs, hopefully not both at the same time!
Did another light defoliation this past weekend and decided to take some nut shots! These are the first males to start showing, the last two (not pictured) are a bit slow on the nut reveal so I may just chop them. 4 guys (of 6) and 5 girls already sounds like a party enough anyway, right?
Been busy with work and hadn’t had a chance to check on the plants thoroughly in about 3-4 days. Did so tonight and caught this lil hermie about to do some damage, some of the sacs looks like they could burst with a slight touch. Fortunately NONE of the pollen from the hermie dropped and I carefully removed then chopped the bitch.
