What types of hormones/growth regulators are beneficial?

Plantastic Plant Products offers several different external auxin/hormone regulators. They can be found for sale online at ecogrow.com

PowerBloom - a concentrated powder mixed and sprayed, which inhibits stem elongation and promotes more lateral branching and bud formation.

SensaSoak - a germination soaking solution to gentically promote feminine plants before the natural expression occurs within the young plant.

SensaSpray - an ethylene compound sprayed on seedlings at the time of sexual determination to encourage feminization and stoutness.

Every plant hormone is beneficial if used at the right time, under the right circumstances.

Powerbloom sounds like a chemical pincher, which I find unnecessary. I prefer to actually pinch the tips of the newest leaves, mostly because it’s free. Lol

The two ethelyne products you mentioned are intriguing though, as I have not heard of adding ethylene to increase fem ratios besides the Banana peel / Apple peel theories.
I have a hard time believing that adding ethylene will encourage the plants to start producing their own ethylene though. It would seem to me that when you stop spraying, the levels would go back to normal. Gunna have to do some searching on Google Scholar.

Addendum: Quote from sensaspray; ”However, when sprayed at the right time, Sensa-Spray™ plant hormone will exert pressure on your male plants to produce female flowers. …
Also, you will undoubtedly have some bisexual plants (both male and female flowers on the same plant), but who cares – you win both ways!"

The plant hormone article is nice, thanks.

I grow on a budget. I used hydro then went to soil. Now I use No-till, I don’t risk changes to my system like that. The most natural way is best in my opinion. I wouldn’t knowingly ingest something that promotes feminine parts. It might be just temporary but it may also have a recessive effect on the males in later generation. The long term could result in female seed only, or simply make weaker males that couldn’t pass on positive traits again. A resulting female would then be less desirable without the positive traits.
