Recently I noticed pre mature brown hairs 3 weeks into flower so I started looking for any problem possible. Thought possible wind burn but that didnt seem right to me either.
After looking around my grow room I discovered my mechanical timer must have gotten bumped and had 2 extra pins pushed in making my 12/12 light cycle a 10/14 light cycle.
Would it be best to just trash them and start over? Will this just be a delay until they start flowering again? If they are just going to hermie now?
I’m thinking this prob happened when I called my wife and had her unplug my dehumidifier last weekend. Which would have been about 2 weeks into flower.
I was so pissed when I saw this I didnt take notice if I added 2hrs of night or day but I’m pretty sure they had 14 light and 10hrs dark for a full week.
Put it back on 12/12 and you should be fine. Maybe you added a day or two to flower…
Early brown pistils can be a sign of pollination. Always have an eye out for herms, a few strains are are prone to it.
10 / 14 isnt that bad it occurs naturally in nature. I wouldnt think that would be a problem you could go 10/14 through out the whole grow and you would be fine.
I dont know if you had/have a problem but if you did its not from the light cycle of 10/14.
I agree you’ll be fine…10 hr weed is better than NO WEED. i think with all new grows there will be issues to iron out. Light leaks leaks in venting all kinds of things. Moving on to the next issue now got this worked out and there will be another one…that Im sure of! If it was me Id putthe timer back on 12/12 and calling a day. You’ll test your plants also to see how prone they are to hermie. Might be a good thing to test your plants…you could go one a hour a week for less stress or just go for it and see if they are solid genetics. If nothing else your testing the room also…I tested a clone i have and the light stress didnt bother it one bit. Its a blessing now you know that strain better and where it fits in your life
For me, most plants will at least partially flower at 15 hours of light, 14 should be enough to trigger flowering in most plants just fine. In nature, the day length decreases slowly.
I’d adjust to 11/13 (eleven on/thirteen off) for rest of the cycle to encourage flower to really kick off in earnest. It is unlikely you’ll develop a bunch of intersex plants because of a slightly longer light cycle.
