1000W HPS whats the biggest room you'd do?

Howdy all I am growing… IN SIZE! i am moving up from my 5x5 flower tent and building a room, my inital thought was to build 6x6 room, but i have the space to make a room UP to 7x8 or 7x9 in size, I’m curious what you would do ? Now keep in mind i am limited to plant count number of around 10 hopefully be more soon, so i am trying not to flower more than 6 at a time to keep a good veg number but i may be able to get that number to 14-15 so should i anticipate for the potential future and maybe consider adding in another light , LED , 400-600 or another 1000w ? I am still trying to dial my room in and get everything in order which I am going to have to do again but feel a room may be easyier than my tent. will take any advice / opinion’s ! thank’s all

I always try to go as big as possible. Plant count is not so important because you can always veg more or do a perpetual grow. The thing most important after lighting is air temp when you talk about a bigger room. More space is more air to cool. maybe you need a bigger a.c. I personally like a overkill a.c

Don’t forget to check your wiring to make sure everything can handle the increased load.

definitely going to upgrade and i don’t even run Ac currently… I forgot I will need to add that in, currently i have a filter in my room with an inline fan on the outside pulling the air through it and going through the light to cool it down some, my air intake is from outside and I’ve been able to manage temperature’s fairly well

I did’t even think about where you could live. Here if you are not underground you need a.c almost all year. You may not need one there.

it gets warm here in the summer, cold rest of the year lol

We always used watts per square foot and the rule for large yields was to try for at least 50 though i have done quite well with around 40. A 5 x 5 space is 25 square feet. Divide your 1000W by 25 you get 40W per sq foot. Go to a 6x6 and it drops to less than 28 and you will burn a lot of power for a poor return. This is diminished a bit further by passing through glass when using sealed air cooled hoods or cooltubes.

interesting , yes I have a glass cool tube , so perhaps i should upgrade to 2000w for roughly 7x8 space

For this kind of output, you might benefit from LED lighting.

Would that work for you? The electric bill would certainly be easier on the budget.

I agree with @99PerCent LED is a very good way to go but for that size space it would get very expensive, depends on your budget i suppose. In that space i’d probably still go for the 2 x 1000W hps in air cooled hoods to hopefully limit the use of air conditioning. The extra cost of buying the led lamps/lighting needed would would run an hps grow for quite some time i recon.

It might but im super new to LEDs i do have one for veg and like it,
