2020 Cannabis with Meesh

It’s like bungee jumping (I presume )

Terrifying at first then exhilarating to finish all the pruning in a minute. Only note is to look the next day for the dead tops you missed-- they’ll be wilted cling-ons :astonished:

OG Fam I am overjoyed to announce that we are having a GIRL!!! Spectral Tangerine 1 has pistils!
I did a happy dance all over the back yard chanting “It’s a girl” to my dog. Jezzy didn’t know what the hell was going on but knew i was excited and jumped around with me wagging her tail.

I will be putting her in her big bed tmw. The 10 gallon pot lol
Can you tell how bent up all the small branches are from me twisting and turning every damn node looking for those darn pistils? Hahaha! I crack myself up

So a newbie post got me thinking about watering. Let me ask you guys this… but preface it by saying in soil and plastic pots only. Do you guys water your plants to run-off every time? Cuz, I don’t. I only water mine to run-off maybe every 5th watering to clear out salts and I NEVER water to runoff in fabric pots. Of course the soil is saturated and I water the shit out of them at transplant, but that’s pretty much it. What do you guys do? I mean what’s your watering technique?

I can understand if you use strictly synthetics why you would, but for me watering to run-off too much has caused me over watering issues when I was a newb.

I water heavy every day in the big bags right around 100 degs last few days. I fill the basin around 25 gals per plant when the weather cools every two days . I don’t think you can over water in bags when its hot the water just drains out . I tried to water in the evening thinking less evaporation but by late afternoon some of the girls were drooping . back to early mornings and happy plants no need to stress them while in full veg , All 400 gal bags

I have some containers that are large sips with my own organic soil and hardly ever get to a run off stage. If you are not using chemicals and the plant gets water …doing fine. I have some 2 gallon bags with a coco coir media and using megacrop I water to runoff every time. Depends.

The Cheese and Skunk 1 are taller than me now. Did more pruning again. I think I’m gonna shear down the marigolds. I feel like they are blocking the full sun now. I’ll get to that soon. Seems I wait until the evening these days as it’s much cooler without the sun beating down on me. Was supposed to do some planting and transplanting but I wasn’t feeling it.

If I decide to give slow release dry flower nutes to Bruce, is it time now? I’m assuming it will take a couple weeks to break down. @Tinytuttle when do you throw down flower nutes? I’ve never tried it on my container cannabis before, only liquid feeds. I’m kind of thinking lazy could be the way to go as the big girls are becoming more and more work.

Now is a great time just top dress scratch in a bit is what I do and water in, I like to cover the soil with a mulch layer of organic material as well to help prevent evaporation loss if your pruning and defoliating just drop right on top of the soil mimicking Mother Nature like trees do in the fall. There’s nutrition in them leaves and biology will do the rest.

Okay, now made sense to me too. I think I’ll top dress Bruce and mix in dry flower nutes on transplant with the Spectral Tangerine GIRL!!! I’m still so stoked on that. Anyway, figure it will save me some time and fussing with the containers. If I don’t like the results, I can change back next year. I’ll just follow the package for quantity per gallon.

So, I can’t stop pruning. It’s become a daily thing now. Once they start flowering I’ll have to stop and they are pretty close. Hacked at Bruce, cheese, and the blue dream again today. Have to go back out and work on the Orange Goji as she has a lot of bottom branches and secondaries now that just have to go.

@GMan is it you that prunes off all your secondary branches and just buds off the mains?

For the most part I only want top colas.

Do you still have a test plant?

Yep. The Bruce Banger. It almost looks too nice to be an experiment plant too. lol

@Gpaw I feel like last year, I had a lot more discussion in my thread. This years thread, I feel I have more followers that only look at photos or the video and don’t read anything. I know that there are expert and novice pruners on OG, but I can’t seem to get anyone to chime in for discussion on it.

I go through these phases of complete pruning confidence, but then doubt myself. This is not unusual as I do this on things that I am really confident with and know they are okay. It’s just part of my anxiety disorder.

I have been pruning on my plants. So I feel good about it, then wonder is it too much. I figure it will get better…I hope…lol

Same here! I should feel confidant all the time. I watched that pruning video like 10 times, but since you don’t see the final plant he worked on at the end, it makes me doubt myself. So far, the more I prune these suckers the more they grow, so I don’t think it’s too much in veg, but for some reason I want assurance for when they start to bud. lol I’ve always been a nervous pruner

I suppose that even if I don’t end up with the exact vision I have in my head, the world won’t end. The plants are still gonna bud and I can’t see how keeping the inside aired out could be a bad thing in the end.

Doing new things always causes a little anxiety. For me it comes down to tuning out ‘the little voice’. It never has much in the way of useful input anyway :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

You know full well that all of this work you are doing is your fault…

You ran the soil tests and amended
You planted the guard plants
You planted & timed them perfectly
So no wonder you are dog tired, damn, I’m tired just thinking about it.

They are gorgeous and growing like weeds…
Now is when you have to fine tune the structure to optimize yield.

Cause Lady! You are going to have the harvest of your dreams…

Well. unless the zombies attack… …and you know where they always attack first in the movies? … Yup, basically your back yard…
Sorry, … I blame the sativa… bad sativa… bad :innocent:

Cheers
