Yeah at this point from what he said in his last post, and what curiouscat has just said from talking to him, I think we need to just move on and find a new person or persons to handle it. Zero offense to Sebring but I think that would be best, and If and when Sebring comes back we can figure out how much he wants to handle of the distribution.
This would allow us to continue forward with the runs currently going and any future one’s coming up.
It’s that or everyone that does a co-op is also responsible for shipping out all the packs
Sorry but I don’t agree. I feel we have a system that works and in this case one user having some personal issues highlighted some weak spots that need and are being addressed by Sebring. I agree with adding some folks for the workload so this does not happen again but just moving on and finding a new person is a bit further than I would go with this. If Sebring wants to step back from his role than so be it but after all the man has done and continues to do for us all I feel he has more than earned the right to make that his decision. Just how I feel about it for what it’s worth.
Nothing wrong with kicking around ideas bud. I am in IT but am older than the internet, lol, and I just think it’s an added layer that is not really needed. I have all runs and members organized on a spread sheet and it’s super simple. Keep the copy on an encrypted memory key in my safe with the data. Now it can’t be hacked as it’s not online and can’t be lost as it is locked in my safe. In this day and age having that information online does not make me as comfortable as having it secured offline even being a legal medical grower in a legal country. After all, the rules could change tomorrow
Besides as I say, only USA used such things. Pretty sure each distributor has their own methods that work for them and as the old adage goes, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it
I don’t mean to say it like that but as-is we have multiple runs with nowhere to send the beans to. The man is understandably MIA with no ETA on returning, nor should he give an ETA but the facts remain.
If we wait, then what are we to do with all the current seeds being made with no where to send them? Everyone just sit on their beans until he hopefully returns and says something?
We are good brother.
When it was mentioned I was thinking about the money for shipping and the donations I guess but like also mentioned above no ones said the website is going away. Just my way of possibly helping.
I get it bud but things are happening in the background so that is not going to happen. I understand where you are coming from but have no fear, there will be a place to send them even if I have to receive them myself and send them to distributors personally. That said it will not come to this but know that the option is there so there is no way folks will just be sitting on stuff unless they want to. It won’t be for lack of a place to send them. The fact is that everyone here is not getting every detail but all I can say is keep the faith my friend. All is being sorted out and all will be well going forward. It’s just going to take a bit of time.
I hope Sebring is doing ok he has not posted on his Instagram or Facebook page in at least a month. I’m not sure if anybody has a ability to talk to him directly but if so let him know we all appreciate his contributions to the community. He may just be busy with summer right around the corner but it’s concerning when a dependably active person becomes completely silent.
While I understand some of the perspective by @G-Pas and @DougDawson there are some things perhaps that should be explained.
One- the whole idea of the seed runs was Sebring. (AFAIK) and MoTR agreed to do the distribution to help him. The web site was not originally intended to handle the co-op boxes. Sebring stepped in to fill the huge hole left by MoTR disappearance.
Sebring has asked for help. You will not be doing anything but restoring the original order of things if someone else distributes the seed runs.
Hey bud, not really sure what your point is? Nobody is trying to reinvent the wheel here. As the Canadian distributor nothing here will change. I think the only change is @G-paS offering to help as MOTR used to. I guess I really just dont understand what you are trying to get across here? Nothing you said that needed explaining was not already known to me including Sebrings site. Perhaps I am just confused.
It doesn’t matter to me if it’s one distributor or five. If there’s extra cost, that’s just the cost of doing business… Of doing the seedrun.
The fact is, just from distributing my own ~150 pack seed-run, distributing for the US is easily a full time job for at least one person if you wanna get through it in any sort of reasonable time. Much less when its 10 or 20+ strains that people just sent you bags of seeds of and not already made up packs. Sebring makes a lot of the packaging himself because of that. That’s even more work that isn’t factored into the ones making the seeds or him distributing.
Idk, I’m just throwing things out there.
No one is trying to take away from Sebring at all. More just make sure the bases are covered
Ah, ok I get your point now, thanks for clarifying. From my perspective the only thing I would want is for Sebring to have the chance to decide for himself. I am not against him stepping down if that is his wish or taking a smaller role. I just felt that with him doing so much for everyone that he should have the chance to make that call is all. To me it is not about being resistant of a new distributor, it’s just about giving him his due respect to make the decision. If he did decide to step out of the role and a new distributor was put in place I would support them 100%.
Has anyone even been able to contact Sebring about making a decision? I’m all for him making it himself, but does he even know any of this is going down? Legitimate question.
That could be but if it was it happened above my pay grade and beyond my control. If the powers that be here made some changes than that is what we will live with, I am sure any decisions that were made were done with the best intentions of all. I am just not privy to what may or may not have happened in the board room
No, at present Sebring is not communicating with all of us but has with at least one member. A member is reaching out to him by phone to try to work out some details for the finishing of the current distribution. I have made the suggestion, with some resistance, that people stop sending to him until things are resolved. I have personally offered as a last resort to take beans from runs and pass them along to distributors until this is hashed out. So yes, seed runs do exist, there is someone accepting seeds for distribution and details for moving forward are being worked on.
Thanks Doug for keeping the flame alive, Sebring should participate and let us know his thoughts about this matter, only after knowing that we could start to make some decisions if needed …
