2'x2.5' Burner! Appropriate lamp for BIG Yield in small space

i concur with the recommendations @GrouchyOldMan said “xs1500 pro” and his comments just above.

Saying that if one was to push the upper side yield wise your gonna be limited as there is no getting around grow area size, though what one can do to gain “space” is do so with height where you could run say that 200-300 watts of light but your gonna have to have them spaced a decent bit away from your plants to lower the intensity with distance but that increased light amount will create a larger acceptable growing zone for acceptable bud height wise to a degree.

Again that xs1500 pro is all you really need, but out of your options id be looking at the medicgrow then the fc3000

and just to put it there

Nice looking colas peeking thru the bottom of your photo!

I definitely dont want to over do it with a light, but I want an even 1000-1100 PAR map in my tent. I feel that can be achieved with a bar lamp at minimal height of 12". Just turn lamp down to desired PPFD at canopy.

This is basically sticking a big-block engine in a small car.

And as far as knowing what Im doin’… Not a fucking clue! lol. Im just having fun and trying to maximize yield while preserving quaility.

I’m going to run the power supply outside grow tent to minimize heat and maximize fixture clearance.

Probably going to fix the lamp in place just a “hair” below the exhaust fan/filter, and just run PAR map with different power settings to see PPFD at distances.

I decided this weeked to run bar lamp opposed to board style to aid in ventilation and cooling.

I should have INSANELY even coverage at any PAR level.

The MedicGrow and ViparSpectra lamps are fairly similar style (quantum board style), and Ive now removed the MedicGrow from consideration due to heat and airflow concerns. With either of the Mars Hydro lamps or the ACI, I have better air flow thru the bars, as well as being able to remove the power supply and mount outside the tent. Also, and this is a HUGE factor… Mounting height. The medicgrow lamp needs more distance to canopy compared to the Bar-style.

I know light isnt everything, but at this time with modestly-priced equipment its nearly impossible to pull upwards of a pound with only 150w LED in a 2x2 (or any sized tent). That much “sun” is only going to grow so much, regardless if one plant or five.

The whole idea is to take roughly the same power I have in my 2x4 (which I have pulled a pound out of) and condense it to my 2x2.5 tent and see if I can pull a comparable harvest.

It will require the best of my very limited knowledge and growing talent. In fact, its probably beyond my experience level, and you will all see me flounder around and fail miserably, lol.

Gonna have to be some big-ass colas for sure. I’m thinking might be good time to do a mainline grow…

Kinda the point the others and myself were trying to make its gonna be hard to hit your goal as there may be some naivety in only being a couple grows in, im all for goals and its good to push and im all for it for others and myself i just think your gonna find that even if you throw all the light you can into a space the plants likely won’t take it or your gonna run into other limiting factors.

Im not saying its not doable, consider though 100ish g/sqft is considered very high yield for commercial operations and even good home growers, now like i said though that metric can be altered depending on the height of the grow, such that a 2x2x4 grow vs a 2x2x100 the later obviously has more volume to grow in if utilized.

2 Dog Patch from Lucky Dog and 1 Wreckage Master Bastard Kush from @THCeed. The Dog Patch smell like burnt rubber and the WMBK smells a bit like sandalwood incense.

Lol. Just a bit naive, but make up for it by severly lacking defliation and plant training skills!
Its gonna be fun! Followed by much stress, most likely. Especially when the “explosive” Octopot growth kicks in.

For sure, need to have my ducks in a row.

Keep in mind, Im doing this for the great light spread, coupled with high output. I will run the same max PPFD as I normally do (1000-1100) but it should be super-even from center to corners, and have reserves built in for deeper canopy penetration.

These are PAR maps I created with my HLG350R and 4x2 tent.
Ill do the same with the 2x2.5 and whichever lamp I stick in there.

The 2x2.5 PAR Maps should be much more consistent corner to corner, and I’ll be sure to have a level lamp next time. (you can see the slope to lower RT in the PAR maps)

The main difference with the 2x2, is the lamp most-likely wont move. I’ll just run PAR maps at different power % levels at the given height.

I’m Liking your approach and your style @supersecretjim, you’re doin it without a net here and you’re good humored enough to take what comes.

I’m pulling up a chair. :champagne:

Question, when you are bathing your Phat and frosty top buds with 1000 ppfd, how much of the photon flood is getting to those branches way down below?

Serious question, if you want to avoid frying those upper buds you won’t be dropping much down below.

Your manifold HST idea is worthy, but it doesn’t support high yield usually.

Another Question, Why don’t you just squeeze the HLG350 into that little tent. and try it for a bit? Physically too big?

PS, those Vipar lights are still on sale…
PPS, You are running Octopots? :cowboy_hat_face:

Not sure. Until I takle PAR measurment.

They seem to have some pretty huge colas.
Mostly, I just want to try it out. I think that tent would be a good platform for mainline. Still couldnt see pulling less than 8oz.

Way too big by about 6 inches. That thing needs room to breathe, big time.

At this point, Im just stuck between the ACI EVO4 and the Mars Hydro FC3000 EVO. Both have thier points.

Well…

Made the move yesterday evening and ordered the ACI EVO4 thru Big A. Should be here by end of week.
I’ll do a set up this weekend to see how everything looks with the 9" extension installed. I’ll keep the filter & exhaust fan inside tent to keep wifey semi-happy, and keep things looking clean as possible, lol.

If I have the time, I’ll try to knock out some PAR maps!

Thanks, Grouchy!

Im having fun! Im still new in this hobby, and having fun taking my grows slow. I just see so many things going on, that I just want to try everything…

Last grow didnt quite go my way towards the end, but still pulled out 10oz+. Cool thing is, even if things dont completely work out to hopes/plan I still have SOME home-grown.

Thats the way Im looking at this side-project… When its over, regardless of harvest size… I still have some weed to vape and lessons learned. And keep some folks entertained!

When this is up and running, I really want to grow LSD in it! Supposed to be on the shorter side and a great high…

You have a great attitude and I wish you all the best of luck with your project

I’ll be following you, keep posting updates please, so far all the posts you’ve made are interesting and you’re not afraid of anything

At this point, Im only afraid of breaking more bones. In this hobby, that seems unlikely. lol.
I just try not to pay attention to the money Im blowing through.

I’m gonna start another OG grow diary soon. That will be my official Octopot grow diary from here on with both my 2x4 and 2x2.5 grows.

Guess what showed up!?
Normally, Id wait til the weekend to get moving, but I was just a bit excited!

Tearing down the Shorty to give it the much needed 9 inches (thats what she said, lol).

The HLG100v2 is coming out and just look at the difference! If needed, that lamp will go in the Clone tent again. Ive used it for early veg, etc. Its a Veg only lamp per HLG.

8pm hit and I stopped. Had to set a limit. Will finish up most likely over the weekend. Need to do some rigging for the lamp. Gotta see how I want it to hang. Im thinking fixed mount. We’ll see.

Nothing accomplished today. Picked up some Steelheart tickets for me and wifey. Mr Miljenko Matijević did a fine job tonight!

Back on track for the weekend! Getting this tent and lamp sorted out by Sunday for sure. Going to hydro store Saturday to pick up Coco-Loco soil for next weekends 2x4 grow.

Hey guys!

Light is mounted and really fills up that 2x2.5!

Light is literally less than 1" from exhaust and filter.

Top view with Driver remote mounted and Controller 69 up top.

Tent City

I approximated the height of my Octopot with seedling, and looks like my lowest PPFD will be around 177 at level 1 of 10 on controller 69.

That may be a bit on the high side for germination/Seedling?

35" from bottom of EVO 4 to top of Octopot sleeve. 18" from bottom of reservoir to top of Octopot sleeve.

So basically, the soil should sit right about 16" from floor.

Using Uni-T with PPFD App.
737 PPFD at 35". That’s level 10.
Level 1 was just what I approximated around 160-175 PPFD

I think that’s in the reasonable range, 200 is commonly recommended

Out of curiosity, what do you get at 10/10 brightness?
