A Shadey spot to grow, Perpetual organic no till

Getting slack with the updates. So 10 days of growth since the last update, plants have recovered and looking great, temps have been a steady 75F and RH has been around the 50% mark, they need watering today its been a week since I last did it. One of the advantages of a big pot and small plants

Started another 12 seeds for some friends out door plants season, but not sure what I am going to do with them when I flip these to 12/12 in another couple of weeks. These will be he smallest plants I have ever put into flower.

They may not get to finish as things are moving very quickly with wanting to sell the house. I dont want weed plants in the house when we are showing it although that was not going to start until at least July but, a couple of small houses up the road just sold for over $600,000 :money_mouth_face: :open_mouth: and our friend in Bridgewater just found our perfect new home that ticks all the boxes.

I went past this house that she found about 9 years ago when I bought a steel shed from a guy, another kilometre up the road. At the time when I drove up this road I thought how beautiful it was, as it runs right next to the river Medway. When we got our new car back in 2014 we all went for a drive in it for the day, and I wanted to go back up this road as I thought it was so lovely, and thought then how I would like to live there. As usual when I look back at my life and the throw away wishes I made, its amazing how many come true later when the universe works its magic and we are in the right place at the right time.

The property is 3.3 acres with 700ft of river frontage, open concept house with cathedral ceilings like the house we have now, never thought we could find another one with the same high ceilings, but we put it on the wish list anyway lol. Never limit what you want, the universal law of attraction will find a way to make it happen lol. It also has a big 2 storey garage where I can build some grow rooms and do my arty work, it has lots of big old trees around the property and 2x 40ft raised garden beds and plenty of room for a green house.

We are taking a trip down there tomorrow to check it out, and then we just need to find out what our house is worth before we arrange a proper look with a realtor, although if the two small properties up the rd from us sold for over $600K we should get that no problem for ours.

Here is a pic of the house. The pointy bit is open from the floor to the roof, we could go even bigger than the 14ft Christmas trees we have here lmao.

Thanks for the update @Shadey.

Exciting that you found a new spot. I spend alot of time at my parents place down outside of Bridgewater, really cool area. Exciting you found a space on the river!

Yeah I wanted moving water as I want to get off grid as much as possible, so wind, solar and hydro was the wish I had. This is about 20 minutes past Bridgewater.

It is bigger than what we were looking for, its only 150 sq ft smaller than what we have already but the location and design has really sold it for us, the bedrooms are a bit small but the info says there is plenty of room to enlarge 2 of them. We did say no big renos lol as my neck problem makes things hard, but if I can take my time it shouldnā€™t be a problem.

Its all oak and hemlock beams every where.

I like it a lot. My bedroom is 12x12 which I find sufficient. Itā€™s also got my grow in it

Its been on the market for 10 months, I think because it may still need some finishing work, Nova Scotians dont seem to want to move into houses that need a bit of work, and why we got such a great price on the house we have atm.

Its priced at $425K hoping to get it for $400K which means we could clear the mortgage, pay off the 90K line of credit, developed while waiting for workers comp to pay up, as well as the daughters university loan of $40,000. I am just waiting on finding out what workers comp will be paying me for my neck injury, hoping that will be somewhere around 250 to $300K for 10 years of not being able to work plus pain and suffering with a permanent injury. I am expecting they will try and shaft me again, but at least its all moving in the right direction, fingers crossed.

Yeah I love exposed wood, it all looks like dove tail, and mortice and tenon joints with wooden pegs. We were thinking originally of looking for a log cabin type house, but they are really pricey here.

It reminds me of a Saxon mead house or Elizabethan stye house with all the exposed beams and white walls inside.

My only real concern is, itā€™s only 1.3 meters above sea level, and if the river might flood on a regular basis.

I canā€™t find anything on the net to say if the house or area gets flooded when we have the spring thaw and rain in this part of NS.

I am going to stop in at the small general store that is close bye the house, today, when we go past for a look see, and ask some questions in there, to get some background info. We want this to be our last house move and forever home so itā€™s got to be right. There seem to be a lot of steep angle stairs as well which may be one other down side, but I guess we will find out for sure when we get a proper look inside, pictures are always deceptive with those funny angle lenses realtors use.

I keep telling Mrs Foreigner that we should get a bungalow so that when we age we wonā€™t have to move out of our home for mobility reasons.

Flooding might be a dealbreaker for me. I like to be able to use the basement.

And Iā€™m jealous itā€™s been on the market for 10 months. Things get sold in 5 minutes around here with multiple offers.

Yeah itā€™s getting the same here close to Halifax, not only selling fast but nearly 20% more than the asking price on average.

The length of time itā€™s been on the market kind of raises red flags for me, but we are not going to get it if itā€™s not right.

Yeah that was one of the things we are thinking ahead about as well, not just for us, but the dog as well with her bad hips lol. I donā€™t want to be carrying her up and down steep stairs in the middle of the night if she wants out for a pee, but there is a bedroom on the ground floor.

When I lived in east Texas flooding was just an accepted way of life. The water table is so high thereā€™s nothing you can do.

The market is crazy. I hear they are aggressively going to raise interest rates soon.

Yeah, thats another reason we want to sell now, is reduce our debt and try and get rid of the mortgage before they hike up interest rates to try and slow down the market. We have nearly 6 years left on our mortgage all together, 2 years before the current one is re negotiated, so we got some wiggle room for now if we want to keep it running and transfer it to a new house.

The liberals are also talking about introducing an equity tax when you sell your property, on the difference between the purchase price and what itā€™s sold for however many years later that happens to be

It was supposed to be +8C today sunny with a little cloud. Itā€™s changed to -3 wind chill and is now snowing

So going to check the house out on Sunday now as I wanted to go to a nice beach down there thats close bye to do some metal detecting as well.

Yeah, it seems no matter how well a person does the Liberals want to punish and rob you to pay for all their charity programs. Vampires :woman_vampire:

No problem bud. They always talk about the poor and things being affordable. As a guy who was homeless for 2 years and had a grade 9 education I get sick of hearing how hard things are. Most of us know how hard life can be. With a broken back in my early 20ā€™s I still put in countless 20 hour shifts to get here. My wife and I clawed our way up to this point sacrificing much to end up as home owners. I have not worked at a place that has a pension plan and my house equity is what I need to live out my retirement with food on the table. We own our retirement home but that means all my money that should go into savings goes into keeping that place going. Itā€™s amazing how much it costs, just got a hydro bill for $171.81 for my cottage and the charge for actual electricity on there is $0 so itā€™s just a delivery fee for delivering nothing. There are thousands in bills every year just like this. Now the government is contemplating taking part of my equity which I will need to live so they can use it for others. Seems no matter how hard one works to get ahead there is some scum from the government trying to take from you to pay for others. I guess they figure once I retire I am no use to them anyway so might as well make sure I canā€™t eat. Argh, sorry bud, going to end my rant now. This just hits so close to home for me.
