Jealous.
They look fantastic. That BBSH is really looking nice for this early. I have one that I was gonna keep outside but had to bring her in. Definitely be putting one out next year.

That plant I started light depping about mid July. I stopped depping too soon and she sort of started to reveg. A few other plants kept flowering just fine.

Been a long week and working the weekend but @Tejas @Zolorp @Smooth your seeds are in the mail! I hope they all make it to the other side safely.

The little side patch is looking pretty good. Quite a variety of different types.

I’m enjoying having the ABC just chilling on the side porch. No need to hide her.

Awesome view! What % shade is that? Would absolutely set up a hoop-house if I had the space at home. Very cool.

I believe thats the 30% that’s on there. With ventilation it kept temps around 95F max on the hottest days. Not too bad. I’m definitely not taking full advantage of it but I think I’ll try some lettuce and other greens throughout the winter. @Radicle_Reefer does a hoop within a hoop that keeps things moving all winter long.

Sounds cool! Will have to check out his setup. Are you guys are heating w/ propane heaters or something like that during the single digit days (and lower)?

I’ve built a few high tunnels with dual poly blower systems and those are really nice for the winter (and summer). Wind isn’t an issue with an inflated setup and insulation is far superior. Does require an electricity source though…

Annnnnnd just like that you have more experience in this than I do haha. I built my hoop house this spring. This will be my first winter trying to use it for something. I’m actually not sure if I’m right on all winter long with the double hoop but id think in recent years it can’t be too hard. Our winters are a shadow of what they were 10 years ago.

I just have a caterpillar hoop that during winter I grow lettuce, spinach, and kale. You just need to create tiny hoops that go up to your knee inside the caterpillar hoop that suspends a row cover. This will insulate all these plants well enough to overwinter. No additional heat needed.

Ya I don’t even think we ever got any substantial snow last winter in NE Ohio.

Very cool, thanks for explaining! The hoophouses I’ve built were always being used for containers and propagation, but it makes sense now.

The snow is actually a nice insulator at times and can save your ass during high wind events.

For sure. Have heard GH poly rip / pop right next to me during heavy wind on single insulated hoop house before. Alarmingly loud…

Haven’t had any issues with wind using wiggle wire / inflated setups (yet?).

This video just shows a low wind test but even during extreme weather conditions it always seems rock solid.

I just rock a single layer plastic. Wish I had the money for a double plastic set up.

That’s cool. That’s cool. You just come on in septoria.

At least the greenhouse plants look free of septoria. Motorbreath is about 8 inches from touching the ceiling. They look really really good actually. I hope they handle the cold wet fall weather well.

over on hash church the grower recommended amending the ground with sulfur and laying a hay mulch over top to try and keep septoria at bay.
