All these scammers

Of course, you are free to ask me anything @shag . I suppose it would depend. If someone asked me for seeds stating they needed them to grow and then sold them I would be unhappy. If someone just signed up for a giveaway I did and then sold the seeds after I would not be upset as they were theirs to do with what they like. Now if I found out someone was selling seeds I gave away I might just cut them off from my giveaways as I want the seeds I give out to go to growers but I would not really be upset about it.

I do, like everyone here, have an issue with someone being deceitful. I have no place in my life for those trying to scam others or those who are dishonest.

Thank you for the reply.
It would seem we are in agreement on this topic. :slightly_smiling_face:

In a nutshell that is all we are trying to say here.
But
It has been met with very much opposition and I do not understand why.
As I have said this opposition gives me the feeling the scammers are being supported by other members here.
Maybe I have it all wrong, but I certainly don’t feel like this view has been supported well in this thread.

We can all agree scammers are bad.

Luckily for me, when I make seeds I end up with hundreds, sometimes thousands of the little fuckers, so if I lose a few to scammers here or there no biggie.

If they’re selling my seeds on the internet or twitter, tell me and not my wife please?

She’ll hit me with a rolled up magazine for not getting a shop up already…

No scammer support here. Just don’t want to add a bunch of rules & regulations & BS to OG. I kinda like it how it is, we can handle scammers by not tolerating bad behaviour.

That’s fucking hilarious :joy::laughing:

Yes, really if I’m being scammed it’s out of a hose washer and a stamp.

Bad Yeti!

I bet she scammed the magazine from the dentist’s office.

If you have to be told you won’t believe it. LOL

Because everyone seems to be misunderstanding what we are after here…
I will use this real world example.

What should be done with folks that turn out like @DrGonzo13 ?
This is the perfect example of what we are saying in this thread.
To be clear here @DrGonzo13 is a perfect example of a seed vulture.

Do we reinstate him?
Would he be in this same situation if he did not screw over the site owner, that was surely the last straw?

Should we wait until a member screws over the site before taking action?
Or would it be better to be proactive?

How should we handle others we believe will become @DrGonzo13 in the future?
Of course, witch hunting would be a foolish endeavor but if we have facts and we discuss it like adults we can then ask the person "hey whats the deal here dude?"

And then we have folks like @Hellablaked
I had high hope for that dude, even though I sent an alarm out to a few members warning them of his past activity.
I am not in the habit of telling folks what they should do or how they should think etc.
I give em the facts and let them decide, I just make sure they understand the situation.

And I truly believe folks should be given as many chances as it takes to earn trust.
I have given @Hellablaked , @DrGonzo13 , @Kabuddha several chances to redeeme themselves, in fact I still wait.
But when asked about these gents I will speak the truth, I try never to use name calling or labeling, just strictly the facts.

Currently, @Carty has given @Kabuddha what seems like his last chance to rectify their personal situation.
Let me just say I am not confident it will be a positive outcome.
And if he really does come through for Carty I will rethink my current opinion of him.

I have said this several times now…
I am ok with fuck ups, it is intentional deceit I take issue with.

Let me be clear here.
I have seen intentional deceit with all 3 of these members.

Surely we all realize, or should, that pimps, thieves and scammers have always been around this “market”. As long as the necessary anonymity required for a site like this to function exists f*ckers will take advantage of it.

Here as in the real world we are beholden to our wits and our friends.

@shag
A few years ago I stood on that soapbox just like you are currently. TonyGreen had just done a seed run and a bunch of us got scammed on the GG4RIL.

Right after that some prominent current member showed up and was making all the right moves to be real popular quickly on this site. It is not difficult. I was worried another scammer was making a really well thought out action. I sang the song you sing now and so much so I alienated some good people.
 shit happens

I just worry about me know. It is enough to know I can share if I want. I have mostly quit signups because I have so many strains and I have nothing compared to a large contingent on this site. Still occasionally something will catch my eye. Much of this has to do with a change in tastes (strain preferences) and learning what works for you. Not gonna do you much good to grow panic weed if you need sleep just as an extreme example.

Seriously, it is kind of expected that site users should employ some common sense. From my viewpoint not gonna make anything change in this way. You need workable alternatives that would be preferred by a majority and not constant argument with naysayers that there is an issue.

I’m new here but I definitely am ok with paying my dues on a new forum and having to earn your way in. Keeps the trash out. Somebody mentioned earlier about a six month waiting period before being able to enter contest or being able to acquire seed and that seems fair to me if it keeps the douche bags at bay. Somebody also mentioned quality over quantity users and that would help with that as well.

Well since this isn’t my forum and I’m just happy to be around you fine stoners, I’m just going to keep showing up here until they take my internet priveleges away.

I don’t have that kind of power.

I don’t want that kind of power.

I also think that as long as this forum is free to join, the only restriction I think is reasonable is an age related one.

I guess what I mean is that the site is really not responsible for the behavior of its attendees. We must police ourselves to have any effect on the bad actors unless we are willing to change the nature of it, which I for one think would be a big mistake.

Assholes need calling out. It’s part of their function frankly, like other pathogens they strengthen the immune system by stirring it into action.

All I know is that when I came here I had like 5 seeds and hardly any knowledge of growing, now I have too many seeds to get too and an abundance of knowledge, but I’ve also made 100s of seeds and given them out. So I started with nothing, was new and ppl were generous with sharing knowledge and seeds. There’s no way I could leave with less than I came here with. If I got ripped off 9 outta 10 times I’m still glad I was able to share with that one person who will feel the joy of paying it forward and will also make seeds for other ppl and so on. I am thrilled about how this site currently works and I believe nothing should be changed. It would be nice to weed out the scammers and sellers but there just doesn’t seem to be a healthy way to do that.

Yes I agree 100% and this is key!
That is what we are doing here, having a rational discussion among friends.
Is not how men get things accomplished?

No one is even suggesting those that wish to stay the same and take no action should do anything other than what they wish.

But some of us see a need for a change if we are going to continue with our current level of generosity.
Hell I was planning on increasing my generosity, but I may rethink things.

@Dirt_Wizard, happy to see we come up with the same answer hahah.

This topic gets raised every month it seems now lol. which, i understand.

ill say this, ive been fortunate to be sent seeds by @middleman, @catapult, @Floyd and the Boxes thanks to great @G-paS and the Co-Op Team. i made @middleman lose a pack of mothermilk f2, and @floyd lose a couple of gg4 packs because of issues with my local post office (and the washers on my end apparently got stopped). after that i have stopped trading and/or receiving boxes, but im around - hopefully will continue to be around - and I hope they know they can trust me to help them in any way i can if they ever need it/reach out.

You seem like a very sensible gent.
It is all very logical and makes good sense.
Like a fence to keep bears out of the dump.

This was not a real question, it was used to bring certain thoughts into ones head.
And I know this is not my place, I am not acting like it is.
What I speak of is not out of bounds, I am not asking nobody for nothing.
All this is to bring awareness to the situation and discuss a possible solution like adults.

We need to do this in the real world.
I think it is a real-world solution and a good one.

If the white boys are kept in check by other white boys there will be balance.
You know judged by your own peers, people just like you.
If Cops police the cops, there would be less dirty cops.

Why sure there is…
Me and a small group are in constant contact with each other.
When we see something suspicious we talk about it.
We don’t go for the scammer tag right off the bat or anything but we watch that person as a group.
We look out for our friends and family here.
That is why we need this discussion so more that are interested can get involved and get informed when need be.

I think I prevented @Hellablaked from scamming several members he in just this manner.
So it seems to work pretty well in fact.

there was/is a personal feedback trade thread. you were supposed to put it in your header i believe. some still have it there, but it rarely gets used. and then some people have positive experience with a user, others have negative experience, and it ends up the same.

Thanks @the_bot
