ARS & Chikamasa trimmers

Oh, these :heart_eyes::

are so much nicer than these :angry::

that I couldn’t help myself and went out and bought these :kissing_closed_eyes::

Man, what a night and day difference that a good set of shears make…

Haven’t tried the shears. Is that because the other ones get gummed up and the spring doesn’t open them because that is the problem I have if I don’t keep cleaning them.

I love my chikamasa trimmers. I’ve used the spring shears u show and yes, night and day difference. The Teflon coating on the blades rock, worth every penny

The crappy $4 dollar trimmer gets gummed up quickly, harder to clean, relatively dull, not very ergonomic causing cramped hands, the amount of force needed changes over time, etc.

The ARS, for instance, were a relative pleasure to use. Still have to clean them but not as much and it was easier to deal with. Much more comfortable to hold. Went out and bought the chikamasas shortly after. $20 vs $4 or so. Was worth it. Like shaving with a razor vs a butter knife.

Just ordered some happy hydro shears and will see how they work out.

Cool. That style, for me at least, is much easier to deal with ergonomically. Let us know how they work out, quality, etc. They look pretty good and they’re claiming a non-stick coating but don’t say. Flourine or something.

Good shears, ah, the finer things in life…

Since the chikamasas have no springs, is it a pain in the ass to use your hands to pry the scissors open? In my mind it seems like it would tire out the hand faster.

That’s what I had originally thought, too. I find the springs actually cause cramping. Didn’t notice any of that with the springless shears. There really is no noticeable friction on the good shears.

You still need to clean them occasionally. You can get a cleaner box that you’d fill with isopropyl alcohol which makes the cleaning pretty easy, too. Something like:

Just don’t dip them too deep and leave them too long.
