Black Lotus by Bodhi Co-Op Preservation seed run

Thank you!
I’d love to see someone post what the F2 and F3 express. The UW HP has been a unicorn for me. And I love seeing her pop up and amazing us .

I’ve read in the past the UW Hash Plant may have been treated other colchicine, can anyone confirm?

Well that’s pretty interesting if true.

And might explain the occurance of twin embryos in some of the seeds.
But i’m no scientist. I quit High School Physics class after just 1 hour because it was too hard. Lol.

This is off Seedfinder.
Are U-Dub and UW Black the same?
Did Heime Cheeba post anywhere that included descriptions of his work?

From my understanding, yes.

Not sure about the descriptions from Heime though!

I believe so. Another name it goes by is Black '84.

It seemed like they were.
Agreed, I’m not sure how much to trust seedfinder.

Okay, i had to do some digging and I now question they are actually the same strain. I found this article from 2013 on thcfarmer:

https://www.thcfarmer.com/threads/u-w-a-k-a-the-dub.60395/

Somebody on there had a side by side pic of them (along with an 82 version i hadn’t heard of?). Also, they both have a page on leafly. Apparently they both got stolen outta uw labs :joy: one in the 80s and one in the 90s.

Uw black hashplant / Black 84

Uw / U-Dub

One thing that caught my attention in the article on thcfarmer:
“Hi farmers ! Been fighting health issues for a awhile and haven’t been around much, but I might know a little about the original udub
I was in the V.A, in seattle summer of “84”. I was informed UW was working on a couple different strains for cancer patients .
The first " Chemo” and the second " Wheelchair" , the first being small, woody and developed for nausea from chemo treatments, and “wheelchair” an extremely frosty, resin soaked wonder that was meant for debilitating pain and terminal
conditions"

So, my theory is 84 black is one of these strains and uw is the other. The only way we’d really know is by digging thru the university library/archives to see if they have any info, or old police reports maybe.

Thanks for posting that info. Very helpful in solving the genetics puzzle.

There won’t be any information since the story is that it was unsanctioned informal experimentation either by the federal government, by people who worked at UW or both. It seems that this is another case of cannabis lore. Same story as “G-13.”

Sales tactics that the next generation forgot. These old Afghans are really great though and people are missing out with all the hype shit. Been smoking old afghans for 6 months straight now.

Very true! There probably isn’t any info on it, most info on older cannabis strains is hearsay unless it comes directly from the breeder. I wish I had access to the UW archives tho, universities do tend to have a lot of info not generally accessible to the public if you’re good at digging. A lot of “academic research” papers get published and stuck behind paywalls somewhere, even things like dissertations, local papers, etc. The good thing about universities- they exist to pass on that knowledge. I know my college had some of the psychological studies from the mk-ultra program in the psych department databases. Like scans of the actual study papers/results that were redacted and released. Many of these have since been released to the public, but at the time were branded as “scholarly journals” and were only accessible via the library with a student ID. As well as a ton of studies on psilocybin, etc, from the 60s and 70s. None of these studies would pass ethics standards today (ie, they wouldn’t be approved to happen). But since they were academic studies, the records are still stashed away. I’d love to check if I could

I already searched for them and found nothing. Why would they risk federal funding when researching cannabis wasn’t even federally legal?

Also the government already researched the shit out of it before it was illegal. Much of that information is available.

Good Morning @BudWhisperer @BackyardBoogie420

The Black Lotus arrived with a veil of Mystery, and Attraction…

Can I ask “ how Long the Flowering cycle is on this Beauty? “

The flowering time i don’t remember.
This here BL f2 thread might offer insight.

Or Longtooth’s BL f3 thread should have the details you seek.

Just my educated guess is 9-10 weeks.

Right around 9-10 weeks like @BudWhisperer said. Nothing crazy or anything. It should do really well outside. You can see in my repro thread I put the dudes outside in the spring in a little popup greenie, and they were lovin life.
