Those are looking great
Thanks! It was nice to find out that the one with the big leaves is a female. It’s on the back left. I’ll have to get better pics of it.
Super looking forward to this. Unfortunately never had the option to grow any of BOGs original gear but there is no doubt of his contributions to the community. Glad to see people preserving the classics for the future.
Hey @Octopus!
Welcome to Overgrow!!
There are lots of BOG’s old strains getting reproduced and passed around here. Join the fun and I’ll bet you will see some.
Cheers

Sorry for the lack of updates I lost my best friend to cancer and I have been dealing with the aftermath. I’ve been a little depressed so I haven’t been doing much. Luckily the plants are one of the few things that keep me going.
The first update would have been that I was pretty sure that I don’t have Bogglegum. I have Sour Boggle. I have grown Sour Boggle and Sour Bubble so I’m pretty familiar. I’ve also smoked BOGs Sour Bubble and Sour Boggle mother cuts. I don’t know if BOG discontinued Bogglegum a while ago or if some packs got mixed up but the first clue was that two of the plants stayed very short and refused to branch at all after being topped twice and the other two got very tall and branched and looked like bogglegum should.
The next major event was that all the other plants were male. So the only female was the one I originally identified. I decided to just keep two males because I wanted to get something else started. I regret this now but I ultimately chose to keep the better looking Bogglegum leaning male and the most branchy Sour Bubble leaning male and got rid of the Bogglegum leaning male that looked really lanky and and the single stock Sour Bubble leaning male because it closely resembled the mother. So this was less a preservation and more a breeding, but oh well.
The female was harvested at exactly 8 weeks although since it’s Sour Bubble and Bogglegum related it finished super fast and looked done at 7 weeks. The best part of this is that it exactly resembles BOGs Sour Boggle mother.
The plant is still drying right now but I harvested some of the seeds from the small buds and there’s a lot of beautiful tiger striped seed just like BOGs used to look like.
The smell is crazy lime some of the most intense lime I’ve ever smelled on a plant with a background of vinyl and amonnia.
A little history on Bogglegum. Bogglegum is Bogbubble x BCSC NL5 then this was backcrossed 4 times to Bogbubble. When I grew it around 08 it was very stable and uniform. It produced two notable phenotypes. The grape and the silver. The grape was what everyone looked for and talked about. The silver was my favorite because it was like bog bubble with a skunky background and was stronger in my opinion. It most likely leaned towards the NL5.
So very sorry to hear about your friend
I have a couple of the Bogglegums from monkeyman as well, and they both have their own personalities.
One is easy going, roots well, puts up a pretty good stink and has a giggly high with medium potency. The other has almost no smell in flower but cures to a musty wine that’s fruity when broken open. It will put me to sleep pretty fast.
@Greenfingers , how have yours turned out?
I have a couple in the flower room right now about 17 days flower. I’ll get some pics tonight after work.
Excellent work! Love this!
Thanks. The musty one sounds like it could be the grape pheno. That’s another hallmark of Bogglegum, it usually had almost no smell which was a huge plus for me at the time. I didn’t need to run carbon filters.
Thanks! I was sad this wasn’t what I remembered but the female being so close to the Sour Boggle mother is exciting.
Here are the resulting seeds after a thorough drying and sorting.
Germination test#1
These were just left in the remaining plant material I used to make edibles. One of them stayed in the oven at 240f for 30min and still germinated. I’ll probably do another one of the sorted seeds too.
Twins
Here’s the packs that they came from. They were purchased the day BOG passed, so they were from stock before he passed. All the seeds from the left pack didn’t make it, the right one was from SHN.
Congratulations on the successful completion of your preservation run.
I’m looking for anyone that has bogglegum preserved from around 08-10 or a better representation of the old bogglegum. If anyone knows what happened to it or why it was discontinued I’d love to know. I’m open to trades and if you DM me I will respond.
Thanks @DougDawson. You are one of the most generous people I’ve ever encountered anywhere.
