Cannabis Current Events (Part 1)

At least MO allows the home growing of plants, if only from seeds now.
This is something the state of Florida is unlikely to deign permissible anytime soon.

The federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is expanding its law enforcement powers so that it can better assist “to the maximum extent possible in the federal law enforcement response” to the wave of ongoing, nationwide protests currently taking place.

The DEA is not asserting its existing authority to arrest those participating in peaceful protests who may be in violation of federal drug laws. Rather, it is exerting newly expanded police powers to take action against those for whom it perceives to have engaged in the violation of any federal law.

"We never thought about Judah taking part in these cultic practices. The fact that we found cannabis in an official cult place of Judah says something new about the cult of Judah,” said Eran Arie, the lead author of the study and curator of Iron Age and Persian Periods archaeology in the Israel Museum, Jerusalem.
“If you really wanted only the odor or the fragrance of cannabis, you could’ve burned sage,” he said. “Only when you are burning cannabis are the [psychoactive ingredients] released into the air. So it’s not a matter of smell like with the frankincense; it’s a matter of the ecstasy and the hallucinogenic effects from the burning cannabis.”

Licensing Marijuana Cultivation in Compliance
with the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs
Under the Controlled Substances Act, the Drug Enforcement Administration may register
an applicant to cultivate marijuana only if the registration scheme is consistent with
the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs. To comply with the Single Convention,
DEA’s licensing framework must provide for a system in which DEA or its legal agent
has physical possession and ownership over the cultivated marijuana and assumes con-
trol of the distribution of marijuana no later than four months after harvesting.

This is precisely why/how legalization has morphed into a tortuous, byzantine nightmare.
We need to be careful of what we wish for.

Add all that into the equation of the DEA giving permits to pharmaceutical companies to import foreign cannabis. while states like Oregon are sitting on a mountain going to waste.
