Record Wildfires Start Cannabis Industry’s Annual Burn

The CZU Lightning Complex Fire in Santa Cruz has now devastated the industry to its roots, possibly destroying the Wo/Men’s Alliance for Medical Marijuana, but it doesn’t sound like a full confirmation has been made yet on the status of the farm according to CelebStoner. Information is still hard to come by and verify since so many places in the heart of these fires remain inaccessible.

In addition to the legal operations destroyed – we’ve counted 5 so far – the mountains around Santa Cruz have long been dotted with cultivators participating on the other side of the marketplace. It’s a 100 percent guarantee at this point that for every legal name we hear there will be a couple of folks you won’t hear about. We hope their money was buried deep enough and are pulling for all.

Continuing discussion from:

I’m not going to go digging through old news, but it was a repeated talking point at his rallies in the time between his campaign announcement and taking office. Jeff Sessions also said that he would go after legalization at this time.

Fortunately, no one followed through on this. Trump changed his mind on this shortly after entering office, saying he thought there was merit to medical cannabis, and that he would allow legalization to remain under control of state governments.

I’ve got to give him credit for changing his mind on that one.

edit- looks like I may have spoke too soon. being from leafly, this article isn’t very well written, but it does have some substantive information. Trump is planning to alter the federal budget to once again allow federal funding to be used for legal action against medical cannabis patients protected by state law.
He is also taking control of cannabis sales in Washington DC away from the DC mayor, who had used her authority to legalize sale of marijuana on all non-federal property within washingotn dc.

He is also making moves to take regulatory control of cannabis out of the hands of state governments, and into the hands of the food and drug administration. This has the potential to allow pharmaceutical companies to gain control of medical cannabis markets, and control legal access to cannabis or more likely, cannabis derivatives.

This substantive action toward political changes that will take cannabis out of the hands of users and patients and into the hands of big pharma, as well as giving federal law enforcement new funding and ability to go after patients and growers, is potentially a lot worse for us than it was for him to make a moral stance against cannabis use in his speeches.

Once again, it seems he is making preparations to target medical cannabis in his upcoming term, if elected.

@ShiskaberrySavior
sadly trump has said a lot to prove to me that he is deep in the pocket of the pharmaceutical companies.
Here’s a link to an unedited video of trump on the white house lawn shilling for Johnson and Johnson.
There is no excuse for what he says in this video, even if he didn’t follow through on it.

A veteran who I help with medical cannabis meds saw this on tv and called me with a full blown panic attack. In the past, the VA had prescribed him an overdose of two conflicting medications. resulting in permanent neurological damage. He was terrified that what trump said would actually happen, and that the VA would arbitrarily force him to take some kind of stimulant prescription. He was absolutely terrified.

These are the real consequences of trumps words, even when he has no intention of following through. It’s clear he was just repeating the name of the company as many times as possible while touting new products in an attempt to draw attention and artificially inflate stock values for a company that he has dealings or investments with,

PS- this was months before he began to push hydroxychloroquin, but as soon as he brought up a specific compound and pharma company, it seemed like the same old trick to inflate the image and value of a pharmaceutical company.

I guess I missed the part where he said he was gonna force this on vets. He has done more to helps vets and current soldiers than anything.

Everything that I read just shower fear mongering from the left. He hasn’t done anything but push states rights since he has been in.

I don’t want to argue, but his alterations to the budget to allow for federal law enforcement to use federal funding to go after people protected by state medical cannabis laws seems counterproductive to states rights. If this budget passes, he will literally be taking away states rights to protect medical cannabis patients from federal law enforcement.

Similarly, the Food and Drug Administration is a federal organization. Taking control of cannabis regulation out of the hands of states, and giving control of cannabis regulation to the federal food and drug administration is a blow to states rights.

I don’t really have a set position on the left- to- right spectrum. I just go with my morality.
The united states is a very large country. I agree with the founding principle that administration should largely fall to the states, because our country is so large an diverse it would be impossible to have a single set of laws that were fair to all and served the needs of all communities.

These political actions by Trump clearly diminish states rights and state control over cannabis legalization and medical regulation.

Trump didn’t say that. He said that he would use his authority to compel the veteran’s administration to begin prescribing a specific compound marketed by Johnson and Johnson.

This video was sent to me by a veteran with neurological damage due to a prescribed overdose of conflicting medications from doctors at the the VA, and his reaction to trump’s statements was that he was afraid he would once again be forced to take a prescription arbitrarily.

Don’t worry, I’m not going to argue. Normally I wouldn’t get into a political discussion here, they can be completely counter productive to what OG is trying to accomplish.

Even in all the campaigning you can see the localized side and the federal side (I’ll leave it up to the states vs everyone has to wear a mask because I said so.)

I’ve had to stop following some threads that I enjoyed because to some things people have said that was political. I just don’t see someone trying to help with the vet suicide rate an issue. It’s been talked about and nothing done for years. Secondly, he is a business man and he k iws how much money there is in pot. Businessmen don’t shoot themselves in the foot with that much money involved. He probably wants congress to do their damn job and address the laws instead of ahickn shitting around with a stupid rider on another bill.

Man I agree with you there, OG is best if we stick to cannabis. We can all achieve a lot if we pull together.

My friend was spooked by Trump bringing up a specific pharma company because the VA has a long history of writing prescriptions based on lobbying deals without much care for what it does to vets.
He is pretty much stuck getting his health care through the VA, and doesn’t trust them at all.

He would prefer that issues of suicide should be addressed with counseling, because the prescriptions they gave him resulted in damage to his body.
I think counseling should always be the first step, and prescriptions have value for some people, but that any decisions like that should be made on an individual basis by the patient’s doctor. Not on an institutional level.

The VA sucks man. They give our poor vets huge ass bottles of pills to address all of their problems. Many of them drink excessively along side these pills, and cause extreme damage to their bodies. We really need to do much more for our wonderful vets. We sure owe them alot.

Veterans are one reason I was so excited that we got medical. Good, quality cannabis can help more with less side effects for sure. Growing it is therapeutic also for sure.

I got this guy started using peanut butter infused with canna coconut oil, made a huge difference for him. Now he can handle his own meds and dosing without any assistance.
I’m never going to be able to convince him to stop smoking cigarettes though haha. I tried to get him to switch to joints, but there was a lot of stigma around cannabis in his family when he grew up.

You gotta be ready to stop. I was when I did, and my wife had to be ready as well.

Super good for you for helping him out. People like you give me some hope for society, except for your political views :joy::rofl: Just giving you shit man!!!
