Cannabis Current Events (Part 1)

This is a lawsuit to keep an eye on.
It may establish an unsavory precedent.

I find it disgusting too. But I’m too lazy to research the RICO req’s to get fully inflamed. :fire:

If you are growing enough to smell up the whole neighborhood, then you should be able to afford some kind of filter/scrubber to mask the smell. Most all industry that puts out strong smells are subject to environmental regulations.

Where I grew there was no zoning (residential, industrial etc…) and people built chicken houses anywhere they wanted and lots of people sold their houses at a loss to move away. I don’t care how good or bad something smells, if the neighbors can smell it you’re gonna have problems. There is always that one (or few) fucker out there to cause waves.

Totally agree. The cost of filtration is a small portion of overall grow costs. For me, it is $100 every two years (likely much less if I can get my filter apart and replace the media). For a huge grower, that would scale accordingly but they would be buying in bulk or using different technology so I am guessing it would be cheaper for them, “per plant”, to filter the smell.

Well, that was quick.

I find it amusing that the plaintiff in this case owns a horse farm.

Which smell is actually more offensive?

Is the horse farm on the same location as the complaint? :horse: :poop:

Subcool made a very valid point on that issue; In Sonoma County, CA, it is common to spread liquified animal manure, pressurized & mechanically, even aerially. It smells like SHIT in August, literally AND figuratively.

So… Which is more of a problem, some weed odors or canon-fired-shit?
:black_joker: I’ll say the diahhrea rainbow & eau d’ass is a greater problem.

NY man arrested at Peace Bridge trying to illegally import marijuana he purchased in Canada

A search resulted in the discovery of six envelopes containing marijuana, two jars of marijuana resin, four additional packages containing THC-infused gummy worms.

BUFFALO, N.Y. - A little over a week into the legalization of marijuana in Canada and a New York man has been charged with attempting to smuggle marijuana from Canada into the United States.

David Dratch, 23, of Montgomery, N.Y., was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, importation of a controlled substance, and smuggling goods into the United States.

Investigators say in a search of recent text messages in Dratch’s phone, a message to someone identified as “Max” on the same day stated: “lol bro I just had 100mg edible and I got stopped by customs and now they’re asking me so much (expletive).”

The charges carry a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fne.

Some people REALLY hate the smell of cannabis, man. Like, hate it more than the smell of manure. I know some of them. The smell of cannabis makes them sick to their stomachs.

Strange, but true.

great job trudeau … but tbh the biggest crooks are the politicians and cops who made their careers arresting people for weed and now they’re trying to hijack the industry from the people who built it

The Reillys had no comment as they left court. One of their attorneys David Thompson issued the following statement:

“While we are disappointed by the jury’s decision, it does nothing to alter the legal rule established by the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals in this case. Those who operate state-legal marijuana businesses are racketeers in the eyes of federal law and may be sued for treble damages and attorney’s fees. The marijuana industry can expect many more days in federal court.”

LOL  What did I say a week or so ago?

Some scheisters saw “treble damages” in their imaginations… they still might be collecting fees. Attorney billing practices are like bestiality & necrophilia. :skull:

Makes me wonder what precedent, if any, is set or if it tarnishes future RICO suits. [shudder] ewww…

More wins! Michigan fully legal. Utah and Missouri both passed medMJ laws with home growing

I like this part - way to go voters!

And Amendment 2 allows home growing, while the other two measures did not.

Voters approved only Amendment 2.
