Cannabis Current Events (Part 2)

Maybe? I’m not really expecting that will happen in VT. The state is collecting tax dollars and the electorate has been majority in favor for years. Wanting to roll that back is almost a non-starter.

If anything were to happen it would be a town voting to rescind its approval of hosting dispensaries, and that wouldn’t affect existing dispensaries.

At this point I think I’m more worried about federal legalization leading to the end of homegrowing.

My worry is that every third person I walk by at say Walmart reeks of weed. To me it smells good, but alot might find it a nuisance, for example having thier 3yo ask what that smell is or what-not.

Anyway, worry that that kind of think might lead to it being banned again here.

Also, have an election for state supreme court judges, and if wrong party wins, they might decide to deem the legalization amendment unconstitutional.

I’ve only tried one of those shows (Great Moments) and didn’t listen long. I was going to say I’m not that interested in podcasts that push industry people, but TBF I might just be picky about which industry people (I often enjoy listening to interviews with breeders, not that keen on interviews with commercial cultivators if the topic is commercial cultivation).

Good parenting is being honest.

“What’s that horrible smell mom?”
“Drakkar Noir. People who wear it are bad.”

Honesty communication boundaries.

What do they say about smoke or the residual smell from cigarettes?

My kids have always been fairly satisfied with “someone is smoking something.” There’s probably something to be said for answering their questions without giving them more of an answer than they’re asking for? I think maybe my older kid has asked more questions, and I’ve answered them like you’d answer about an adult drinking.

Florida is now forever off my list of states to live in:

It was a crappy amendment. A vote for corporate cannabis is not a step forward

If corporate cannabis cannot win, free cannabis never will. Not a state I would ever live in. Looking at Michigan for my next move.

How was it corporate?

Trulieve the largest company in the state wrote the amendment and spent 140 million to try and get it passed. They would have basically taken over the state’s cannabis industry and shut everyone else out. They are fighting every new license trying to apply through corruption and bribery

it wasn’t, people are just gullible.

it is literally written into the bill that other businesses can be allowed. people are just too damn lazy and arrogant to read the damn thing themselves. they would rather keep ruining lives because they think it’s not the most perfectest law ever written.

read the damn text next time people!!

fuck florida :unamused: y’all dumbass troglodytes can have it

It was written into the amendment that the state can accept new licenses but wouldn’t be mandated to allow any new licenses. The current system at least requires the addition of new licenses when a certain amount of med card holders is reached. Florida currently has 22 licenses awarded. There are 22 more that have been promised. But Trulieve has blocked them with targeted legislation to keep the process in limbo for many years now. There was absolutely no way anyone would have been able to homegrow either.

No home grow is a problem.

You literally can not legally put homegrow and possession on the same bill. Florida is a single issue state, and they already tried stopping this bill for that exact reason because it allowed possession and sale. Homegrow would be a second bill, and that has been repeated ad nauseum.
