Cannabis Current Events (Part 2)

I suppose he’s talking to a conservative audience, but I say f people who paint everyone in the legacy cannabis market as cartel members or “local organized crime”.

Pulled from the piece;

  • Researchers conducting a study funded by a pro-legalization group found that 40 percent of frequent cannabis smokers with respiratory symptoms who switched to using a vaporizer got a respiratory illness within one month.

From article;

Based on the data, however, it is impossible to tell how many people, if any, have been arrested for growing small amounts of cannabis.

Growing cannabis plants in New Jersey runs afoul of two laws: A prohibition on “manufacturing, distributing or dispensing” cannabis and on “maintaining or operating a controlled dangerous substance production facility.” The data on enforcement of the former law does not distinguish between arrests for selling versus growing cannabis. And for the latter law, which only applies to grows of more than 10 plants, the Judiciary’s statistics do not distinguish between those arrested for growing cannabis versus those arrested for manufacturing harder drugs like crystal meth.

Federally legal has to give soon you would think, then maybe I’ll be allowed back in the states haha

You can’t argue with the numbers…

Martin Luther’s quote was a good one, saved in my notes:

“We are now faced with the fact that tomorrow is today. We are confronted with the fierce urgency of now. In this unfolding conundrum of life and history, there is such a thing as being too late. This is no time for apathy or complacency. This is a time for vigorous and positive action.”

On a few occasions I’ve heard people on podcasts express an opinion I’m prone to agreeing with… it’s not that cannabis is more potent, it’s that more potent cannabis is more broadly and regularly available - whereas “back in the day” a lot of what was available was low quality commercial flower, with better stuff coming around here and there but not all the time (depending on where you were).

On a somewhat different topic, one thing I’ll never quite get… in the 90s in Boston you could get hash here and there, but it was never all that good. Kind bud I could get easily, hash, only pretty meh stuff. It might even be from the same person and yet…

Considering the source - the Guardian is as far-left as it gets - and that midterm elections for the US, which will help determine control of Congress and de facto the global financial system, are in 2 months… I’m gonna call this 90% political propaganda and 10% news. It takes what, two paragraphs before they drift from facts to a diatribe against Alabama and the pro-choice movement and end with a call to action against this “hateful misogyny?” I have no doubt that they would gladly ignore 99% of the facts in these cases to make their point, though they may not have needed to this time. I’ve seen it countless times before. Around this time of year, the news is less trustworthy than Saturday morning cartoons.
