Cannabis Current Events (Part 1)

This positive momentum is inexorable!

Salutations,

With cannabis still scheduled and banned by the United Nations i find “inexorable” might translate as short lived when 2019 arrives, which is the year the drug-free world utopia shall grow or die.

Good day, have fun!!

Greetings,
I disagree… the momentum is irresistible!

This does not reflect well on the mind set of certain law enforcement professionals.
Is it too much to ask that their opinions be somewhat based upon reality?

Hahahaha!
What a doofus and dullard.
Embarrassing.
Hahahaha.

Salutations Calyxander,

I certainly wish it were, which would be a major U-Turn compared to this:

AlterNet: Global Commission Slams UN Drug Summit Outcome as Straining the Credibility of International Law (2016-Apr-21)

« Louise Arbour, a former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and former Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada, outlined the choice now faced by nations determined to do better for their citizens. Countries that want to pursue policies like marijuana legalization, drug decriminalization or heroin-assisted treatment, she said, either have to denounce the international conventions — a “very serious move that could encourage other countries to walk away from other international commitments” — or else, “pretend they’re in compliance, which we know they’re not.”

The UN’s confirmation that countries must continue to work with “this repressive framework” is “a pretty sobering statement for people like me, who have always worked within legal systems,” she said.

She later elaborated to The Influence. “The system is punishing itself.” It’s not that she fears international consequences for countries that enact drug policy reforms, she explained, but a question of a destabilizing threat to the credibility of international law. “If states start cheating at the margins, it erodes the effort to have a cohesive system.” »

In any case self-cultivation is still going to be forbiden in Québec… Not to mention the other surprizes yet to be clarified.

Hi again Calyxander,

Joint United Nations statement on ending discrimination in health care settings
(2017-Jun-27)

Joint WHO/UN statement

« We, the signatory United Nations entities, call upon all stakeholders to join us in committing to taking targeted, coordinated, time-bound, multisectoral actions in the following areas.

Reviewing and repealing punitive laws that have been proven to have negative health outcomes and that counter established public health evidence. These include laws that criminalize or otherwise prohibit gender expression, same sex conduct, adultery and other sexual behaviours between consenting adults; adult consensual sex work; drug use or possession of drugs for personal use; sexual and reproductive health care services, including information; and overly broad criminalization of HIV non-disclosure, exposure or transmission. »

Although i still think Trudeau is on the wrong track i must recognize those are powerful words we can read above, Calyxander! Thank you very much for attempting to bring focussed attention on this significative event i wasn’t aware of so far.

:+1:

You were absolutely correct to refer to this “Joint Statement” (which is a major sign of advancement in itself), showing that the UN/WHO finally managed to reach at least some coherent consensus in the public eye with this refreshing statement that leaves little room to further bigot anti-cannabic prohibitionists. To review their previous position on the drug-war only would have felt moot but now they’re talking about repealing punitive laws in a health care context.

One can only wish it had been done prior to UNGASS 2016 when Canada’s Health Minister Jane Philpott made her historical speech:

…and Justin MiniHarper Trudeau his most ambivalent demonstration afterward…

You were right to see renewed hope as this does constitute a major U-Turn for the United Nations, nonetheless. Which now makes Canada’s present orientation even more questionable! Not to mention the totally damaging approach of Québec’s health minister Lucie Charlebois:

Notice the lady just couldn’t manage to speak about it without displaying a most spectacular nose blushing i’ve seen in a long while! M’well, for a “responsible” adult with the duties of a minister dealing with “Rehabilitation, Youth Protection, Public Health and Healthy Living” anyway.

It’s no wonder now the mari-caca file has been transfered to Martin Coiteux, Minister of Municipal Affairs & Land Occupancy, Public Security and also the Montréal region…

Translation: Québec will NOT allow its citizens to grow their plants themselves, even if self-cultivation is authorized by federal law. In other words this is about law enforcement again, the oposite of a health care approach i believe.

Good day, have fun!! :peace:

Howdy @Egzoset, I see you Canadians also have some curmudgeonly, irrational, anachronistic trouble makers similar to the maniacal narcissist, Jeffy Sessions.

Hi there Calyxander!

And also incompetent because as a minister this bigot individual just doesn’t have en excuse not to have read the joint UN/WHO declaration: great power comes with great responsability and right now the very bigot Lucie Charlebois has to provide answers on the death of a child under her “protection”:

Deputy Sylvain Gaudreault blamed the lady for her attitude after severe criticism over the Child Protection Services which are under HER jurisdiction. There was no coverage of this sordid story by english mass-media that i could use to gather information, after scrambling through a few French-written articles i came to understand the “DPJ”, as we call it, comitted successive professional errors leading to the death of a 20 months child in June 2016. Evident mistreatment hints inluded a double femoral fracture, a damaged pinna in one ear and injuries to one hand. Maybe that’s why her nose is blushing after all!

Euh…

Anyway the trust of Québekers in Liberals controlling the DPJ had already plumetted after hearing of a previous story, nearly just as bad, where children of the CPS were exposed to sexual exploitation by pimps!..

With a Liberal heritage like that i guess i’d be blushing almost every day.

Good day, have fun!! :peace:

State governments seem determined to aid and abet concurrent black markets.

Are they really that stupid?
Could there be more sinister motives in play?
Hmmm?

yes, I know here in Massachusetts the political class is involved in the illegal drug rackets and much, much more. Electric utilities run by the Irish mafia. Gambling.

Also Pharma is well-served by keeping cannabis prices at $300-$400 per ounce. Basically accomplishes the same goal as Prohibition, keep cannabis expensive enough that Pharma’s products are more affordable when purchased through insurance.

Pathetic.
This is precisely why more individuals should grow their own.

Overgrowing is the only way to keep clear of the corrupt dysfunctional governments.

Do you mean to tell me I can’t count my personally grown weed for my own use at $300-$400 per oz. In cash value saved by not feeding the beast?

Once upon a time on a planet far far away, I bought weed for $45.00 a quarter pound

Well $45 in 1969, adjusted for inflation, would have purchasing power now(2017)
of $306!!

I have not bought weed in a long time, I wonder how much 1/4 lb would cost nowadays?
