Cannabis microscopy

What are you hoping to achieve with this experiment? Do you have a hypothesis or just throwing chaos at random?

I do enjoy throwing chaos at random! Makes the work place fun at times

Ahh yes! The first part is, I’m going to see when the plant is ready by taking photos of the trichomes as it grows and matures. The next stage is I test the yield of capitate trichomes when I make hash. After that, I know where to put it in the baseline data. 1%, 2%, 3% or…perhaps more? I’ve had .5% ones hah hah.
When I get a new kind of plant from clone or seed, I take the tiny bit of the female and put it under the microscope. Then I can compare the image to the baseline data, and make a prediction on the yield.
The purple ice water was placed into a high yield like 3% based on the data. When I compare it to 1% baseline it looks way better. 2% is most common. It resembles the 3% baseline the closest.

hah hah oh and look! Today is the day it starts turning purple! This one has purple trichomes as well. Very interesting process, since everything looks normal until day 12 then the shit hits the fan.

Puuurrrrrrrrps!!!

Like an explosion of purps?

Seemed to happen over a couple hours today after the lights came on. 6 hours ago, it wasn’t even noticeable in the microscopic image, or to my eye. I was down there about 2 hours ago and noticed the change had started in earnest!

I think you have summed it up perfectly… ‘chaotic knowledge’

:+1:

Today is just day 13 of bloom. I’ll be making purple hash out of this!

94 days!!! Thats nuts! Thanks for sharing this and those trichomes looks :ok_hand:

Thirteen days? That’s gotta be a good sign, right? Or some kind of sign, anyway haha.

Man, that GMO takes a while, huh? Everybody I’ve seen grow that, it always takes twelve weeks minimum to finish. Considering the genetics, you’d think it wouldn’t take so long…

She’s done at week 14 weather or not after 14 weeks she need to start paying rent

hmmmmmm… mostly inconclusive, but suspect male. The thing is, I don’t see an obvious pod that leads to pollen formation. There ARE leaf bracts, so I lean towards it being male.

I had a thought…
I wonder if the final size of the trichome cap can be estimated by the number of internal wrinkles.
These strange shaped caps are a new one to me. Almost like a witches hat. I can’t wait to see the evolution of these beasts!

This is a beautiful shot you have here. Exactly whay part of the plant are we seeing here for you to suspect its a male.

You are making want to get a microscope now

It’s the little growth that formed at the node, between the branch and the stem. I’ve got a photo!

It’s the small part circled in red. I cut it off and put it under the 'scope and then make my prediction. Males are far more likely to form leaf bracts around a pollen sack. On occasion, it’s not a pollen sack, but instead a growth shoot. The center of the mass doesn’t really resemble a pollen sack, so it could be female.
