Thereâs a federal election going on here so all the dummies are out waving their flags.
It goes something like:
âA $20 an hour minimum wage would destroy my business.â
âIf you canât pay a living wage maybe you shouldnât be in business.â
âYouâre a communist!â
âI donât think you know what that means.â
I often stay quiet around the dinner table if you know what I mean.
Then you get the people who are mad that âeasyâ jobs would pay what they make now not realizing that theyâd now have a really good bargaining chip. Say you roof for $20/hr âgive us $30 or we go to McDonaldâs, youâll have to increase wages to replace us, and put off already scheduled work till you didâ
Not only that but theyâd get a staff discount on lunch.
This is an extreme view but I believe access to our markets and the money you can make off of them is a privilege and if you want that access then youâd better play ball.
You know how some restaurants are Coca-Cola restaurants and some are Pepsi restaurants? Maybe we are a Pepsi country.
Itâs all about leverage. Which we have. Weâre just afraid to use it
I know a guy who got busted for drunk driving (Iâm against drunk driving) because a buddy in the back seat threw garbage out the window which attracted the attention of the police.
Drunk driving is dumb as shit, I remember one time me and my boy Murphy were both hammered going for a beer run to the class 6 and I had to get out a stoplight because his driving was so bad. (I was drunk too so I couldnât take the wheel, but apparently still sober enough to recognize danger) he rear ended a guy while parking and got a dwi and article 15, I got back to the barracks safely and continued drinking.
I know another guy who got a DUI because he was drunk and asleep in the backseat. The driver (also drunk) hit a lamppost and took off on foot. The cops didnât believe the guy in the backseat when he said he wasnât driving.
