Hey nube, I’m still a bit of a novice at assessing and reporting my results (as I am in most areas of growing). I smoked some of pheno 2 last night and was getting a bit of sweet marshmallow with a kush backend. I’ll be sure to update with a real substantial evaluation once I spend a bit more time with my harvest.
Currently vegging are 3 Dread Bread x SSDD from Bodhi, a couple Blue Ripper (blueberry x JTR) reproed by a growmie, and a Blueberry Hashplant S1 gifted from HydroRed. I’ll post more once things get more interesting. I had some issues with damping off and stalling out starts this round, so I’m rethinking my technique on that. I’m considering flowering out a male or two from the DB x SSDD if I get a mix of male and female and trying my hand at branch pollination.
No worries man. Novice or not, your contribution is valued and appreciated. We all gotta start somewhere. My username is what it is cuz I’m a perpetual newbie about everything, and I’m OK with that! It’s just my lot in life. lol
What’s the dread bread x ssdd cross called? Or was it a freebie that didn’t get named? That one sounds incredible+++. Also, the Blue Ripper is originally from @GroErr from RIU, right? He is the one that made that strain. I haven’t heard from him since he moved down to South America. Wish that guy was still around…
Seems like a lot of people are having issues with seedlings these days. I wonder what’s going on? It’s not specific to any one breeder or seedbank, that I can tell…
Up potted a Dread Bread x SSDD (left) and a Blueberry Hashplant S1 (right) into 1 gallon trade pots. Roots Organic soil with castings 4tsp Biolive, and a tsp each of azomite and insect frass.
Looks like I’ve got thrips. I’ve been seeing some little patches of mottling on some of the leaves and at first thought it was burn from misting the plants with a light h2O2 solution with lights on. Photo evidence says it’s something more.
It’s all good, I’ve been slow to really nail down a good IPM strategy and so a little bit of a challenge will hopefully push me to develop a consistent prevention regimen.
Is that on the leaf or in the soil? That looks like a springtail to me. Thrips look more like microscopic grasshoppers to me. That being said, they do leave a residue that looks like hard water stains. They also leave little spots of excrement on the leaves. You can see all three in this meme…
If that’s in the soil, they are definitely springtails. They eat decomposing organic matter, usually not plants.
I would look at the underside of the leaves with a microscope. Thrips are pretty adept at hiding. Can you get a picture of the leaf damage? It is pretty distinct.
Another useful trick is to get a piece of white paper and hold it under the plant, then shake the plant vigorously and see what falls off on the paper.
Since up potting BBHP has seemed a little under the weather. She got droopy initially and so I gave a generous watering, probably overwatered a plant in transplant shock.
The Blue Ripper is taking it a little better. She’s a bit on the stocky side, I’ve been waiting for her to put on some more height she’s short and bushy and BBHP is lanky with an open branching build. They are quite different plants.
Well, I got two of three BBPH clones to root. This is my first successful cloning, so I’ll chalk that up as a positive. I just transplanted them into small grow bags.
