What a stunner! Thanks for the advice about the cage & milkweed, will have to try that next season.

The plan for Critical 2.0 fem. is to hit a couple lower branches with the pollen of 2 of the best looking males an produce some beans.

That may be the start of a future project (depending on how interesting the cross is). :crossed_fingers:

That’s exceptional!
Even more impressive is… you did that at 45 north latitude.

Thanks for posting pictures of that beast, I’ll bet that took some time to trim…

Happy to see some others enjoyed the same book! I’m working on the second one now myself!

Oh my goodness… another line from the infamous “missing box!”
thanks so much @Gpaw for preserving these and starting a new co-op run. I can’t wait to see what you find.

(keep an eye on those dinafems for any hermaphrodism if they are in the same tent or grow room. I’m cautious with fem seeds after fems from a few of the dutch and spanish companies hermed in my outdoor grow one year.)

THERE’S A SECOND ONE?!!!?!

I literally couldn’t put the first one down. The movie was a let down a little bit though.

I should still have a few Hibernate F3. I sent some to the US but stopped when somebody was supposed to make more. Apparently that did not happen. If you want another piece of the missing box puzzle I can send you some @zephyr.

Ran out of likes with only 6 posts left to go, gotta come back later and finish the job. Anyhow, seems like, after a bunch of anecdotes, anything with bubba in it ends up being described as “relaxing” which is right up my alley. Could it be that bubba might be one of the more under appreciated varieties of our time? Seems like a ping pong strain. Kevin Jodrey calls it a bullet proof beginner strain, real easy to grow, others comment on its lackluster flavor, but go in about its relaxing anti anxiety effects. Seems to me like a perfect candidate for breeding stock, some desirable traits, but room for improvement. I’ve got some pure seeds bought from mark that I really want to run out at some point to looks for keepers myself, if only I didn’t suffer from the limited space mentioned above, as well as the dreaded plant count!

I hadn’t looked… …holy mackerel Batman, that’s wild!

Black Swallow Living Soils

I first encountered these folks at the Cannabiz show in Toronto in 2019. We got chatting about custom soil mixes and they told me about their local KIS mix they were developing with Tad Hussey. Later they forwarded me a PDF of their various soil mixes they had encountered and compiled.

Finally, I had a good reason to drive over to Brantford to score some. Great looking material… and… NO FUNGUS GNATS!!

As a test I ran 4 clones in this mix this summer in my kid’s tent.
Nice… Right Nice stuff!
And the KIS mix isn’t even the best part!
They also have re-amendment/nutriment packs for recycling your soil or amending your own. The materials used are the same as they use in their soil mixes AND it is prilled. (no dust & lasts much longer). I was told the prilled version is not available yet in the states.

The smell is great! Like forest soil but with a touch of the sea. It took me a minute to realize it was the ground crab shells I was smelling.
Ganja grower’s Potpourri… :+1:

Any Canucks that have ‘drooled’ over the amendments at the KIS organic site really should check out Black Swallow. All the ‘good stuff’ is there and available, even bio-char, loaded and unloaded.

They are a great bunch of folks and if you are near the GTA, well worth the drive…

So fast forward to the fall and I’m prepping the solo cups, of course the mix bone dry from being stored a couple months in the garage… It’s really hydrophobic… like science experiment level hydrophobic. After a couple failed attempts to mix I hit on the solution, just knead it like bread… works like a charm
Aggravates the arthritis a little but hey, that’s what the CBD is for…
A good wetting agent would be best, maybe a JADAM?

To be clear, it was my fault the sack dried out. Poor storage
The first sack, which was used a few weeks after purchase, was perfect material.

This is supposed to be water only. That may be true in a large enough container but I’m skeptical.

I’ll watch closely and adjust accordingly. That info should help me “amend “ the blend next time if required.

Hopefully one day I am able to give organics a try. I’ve read that the best smoke comes from growing in living soil.
At any rate I’ll have to watch and learn from this grow, it’ll get me closer to trying it out.
