Cool Runnings

Is this the 53 :drooling_face::point_up:

It’s indeed a good state of mind, to try to do better! Not that you need it :innocent::pray:

Good luck on the next runs and more to come :pray::pray:

small beanz work just as well as larger beanz
Cap did a comparison of large beanz and smaller beanz and found them to work just as well and even noticed that he got more males from the larger beanz

my port wine cheese beanz are tiny and work just fine

@Gpaw the size of your beans, does not have any relevance towards proformance (just as other things) just ask my wife ,)

Your beans will be fine. They look good :+1:

This is really cool to see and read; thanks for sharing your efforts @Gpaw .

I am curious regarding the meaning of: “lightly over-seed with clover”.

With all the love I’ve been receiving here on OG I’m already making a notebook filled with tips & tricks for when I have the opportunity to attempt my first ever seed run to share back with the community.

Thanks for the kind words.
Sorry, I should have been clearer about the clover.

Clover seeds are really tiny so the first time I used them, a couple grows back, I was probably 10+ seeds per square inch (way too much). 2 or 3 per square inch is what I’m doing now.

I’m going to condition the beans for 2 weeks, then cold stratify them and check germination rates. I’m sure there’s several viable crosses on each female, so not a total train wreck :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I have the clones running in flower right now and boy, are they are going great! I’ll post some pictures here as they develop.

So you’re utilizing white clover as a nitro boost as they grow as companion plants with the seed plants?
I spent the last 5 years converting my lawn into a legit clover field for this very reason so I love your idea if that was the intent! (if not, please do tell!)

That’s exactly right, I am going for the nitrogen fixation, and it’s working.

The 1st time I tried it, it worked a little too well  and I got nitrogen toxicity so this time I’ve ‘throttled back’.

This looks like a useful technique for ‘hungry hybrids’ in veg but I wondering about seeded plants in flower.
Seems to me their requirements will be different.

Fun With Clones (part 2)

As I covered previously, I had been experimenting with the clones of the three females as a side experiment.
So when the Cool Runnings crew were harvested, the clones were prepped (shaped), transplanted into 5 gal pots. I was thinking 3 gal but the 5 gal pots were available.
I did this to see how they would respond in a ‘nice’ grow.

How did they respond you ask?

Well, I’d say “release the hounds!” would sum it up, but you decide.

May 5 group shot (they are about 12 inches here)

and the individuals

May 15 group shot

May 20

group shot! They are now 25 ~30 inches tall

Well thanks folks! :sunglasses: :+1:

These were the ‘leftover’ female clones I was messing around with, once the seed harvest happened, I gave them a quick work-over and lobbed them into the tent. That’s why the structures look a little odd.

There’s two main phenos:
#1 is the deep maroon, nice strong smoke with a hint of pine and fruit.
#2 is the green pheno, smooth smoke, virtually no smell.

#3 is most like the #1 maroon but with slightly stronger smoke and a bit more flavor.
They all have the same maroon coloring to the stems and all stretched 2.5x.

They are in 5 gallon pots (soil). The lighting is a 660W, DIY Bridgelux and the tent is a 4’ x 4’ with an AC Infinity for ventilation.
Max temperature is 82F (74~78F leaf temp.) & max humidity is 54%. (have to dial that down shortly but right now they seem to be grooving on it).

Well that was fortuitous!

This morning #2 & #3 are starting to produce an exact fruity bubblegum.
Original Bazooka Bubblegum specifically.
I know odors & scents tend to change as the plant matures but maybe this will stay :crossed_fingers: :crossed_fingers:
