Coronavirus Facts and Fiction - January - May 2020 [Closed]

I am not, in any way, stating that this COVID-19 threat should not be taken seriously.

That would be irresponsibly foolish and reckless.

I myself am fully prepared for the worst, and as a resident of SoFla I have a large cache of non perishable food stuffs, as well as lots of water on hand year round. My hurricane larder is now my corona avoidance backup.

I do not have to go out for any reason (retired), and will hunker down in my hurricane bunker if the need arises. I even have a new generator which was intended for the upcoming hurricane season which begins June 1st. I have even become suspicious regarding my daily mail delivery, whether I should touch it or notā€¦ ?

I came down with some variation of the flu about 3 or 4 weeks ago, only a couple of feverish days, and I felt much better after about a week. Even though I am in the higher risk ā€œoldā€ category, I fortunately have no underlying medical conditions which would increase the odds of the wuflu making me critically ill.
I hope.

I have a UVC bulb set up in the garage now, and all incoming anything get 30-45 minutes! It is a DNA killer (us too) and adequate protection is needed for your skin and eyes. No idea if it will work on thisā€¦but it canā€™t hurt! (under $10 usd on ebay). I bought it to help combat PM and it does a good job on that crap.

One good thing is this is not airborn, then forget about slowing it at all
I wonder if it could still mutate into a airborn virulent?

if you really want to freak yourself out, watch The Last Man on Earth with Vincent Price. Itā€™s the original version of omega man/ I am legend. But so much scarier. There are no zombies, only plague carriers whose personalities have been destroyed by brain damage from the virus.

I have quarantined my new light components and the microbial mass products even though they came from within Canada. I wore rubber gloves to take my mail out of then box this morning, and straight into a zip lock bag. 99% of my mail is junk and bill receipts, luckily most stuff is done by email now. Junk mail straight into the organics bin outside and anything important goes into the microwave with a wet piece of kitchen roll for 3 minutes to get enough heat and steam heat to kill of viruses.

Just started to lay down the law to the daughters boyfriend and his sister and boyfriend who are living with us atm. I have said that as we are in the dangerous zone with age and health if they even get a cold they will be going back to their parents houses to live, so they better keep up a good safety regime. My wife works from home and I am retired we dont normally go out more than once a week as is so its not much of a problem keeping away from it. Just need to keep it out the house. I told them they come in the back door into the wet room which is also my grow room with the veg tent in it. There is a sink right next to the door so the can wash their hands and face. and go straight into their room which is next to my grow room and change clothes. daughters boyfriend is a mechanic so he wears rubber gloves all day, but has to get into peoples cars, so I said take a change of clothes to work and leave your work clothes there. His sister is the big problem she works at MacDonaldā€™s so is in contact with hundreds a day. Her boyfriend is a packer in a shipping company and is dealing with stuff from China all day. He brought home the flu my wife and I got the other week and have started to get again from her this week.

She is 19 and he is 20, they have no common sense, or life skills yet, cant even cook, they live of Macdonalds and pizza all the time. If it gets in the house it will be coming in with them, so I may just have to ban them from the rest of the house.

We have enough food spare atm for 4 - 6 weeks, I am gradually stocking up, like you we have hurricane seasons as well so we usually have extra in the house anyway. I am just hoping that services like electric and water keep going. I can get water from my brother in laws well but gas and electric will be hard to deal with not having. I filled up all my spare gas cans today as well as got a spare gas bottle for the barbecue. I might start growing micro greens as well if things start to look like food shortages will happen.

I have not taken seriously the previous predicted flu epidemics for the last 10 years, as I figured they were just hype, to get governments to buy large pharmaceutical vaccine stock, but this one got my spidey senses tingling as soon as I read about it.

The stock market is crashing because china is only manufacturing 10% of the norm right now. That and the virus has destroyed the confidence of investors in every sector. The only lies are the 180 million pumped into the market by the feds over night to try and save it haha

The numbers are one of the best things to go by. The flu kills 0.1% this kills 3.4% you canā€™t dismiss those statistics.

the fatality rate for South Koreans aged 65+ is 14.42% of the total population, and for Italians aged 65+ is 22.75% of the total population.

Itā€™s already been said. The flu infects way more people but it has a lower death rateā€¦ Measels for example has a death rate of 0.2% and everyone Freeks out over that. Why an illness that is globally at 100k + infections and spreading like wild fire, with no end in sight, with a 3.4% death rate doesnā€™t worry you a bit, Iā€™m not sure. If this was A measles outbreak I bet you would be scared.

The conspiracy theory comment is silly because weā€™re citing real numbers while you trying to discredit facts with quotes like
ā€œthe flu has killed more peopleā€ .

Totally okay to state your opinion, which is why I made the thread. Itā€™s all for fun. As far as the horseshit. Iā€™m not gonna stop until it goes away hahaha Iā€™ll send you some TP when you need a roll :v:

I think it was in my first or first few posts that the Chinese response was astonishing.
It still is.
Their response is echoed in the vid I posted from Clif High.
One thing he said that struck me was how difficult a time we would have in disinfecting things, buildings, transport, etc. and made me ask what do we know about this virus that would support this statement?

First, we know the Chinese engaged in widespread spraying of public areas.
Recall @Mongobongoā€™s post near the top of the thread.

Second, we know the Chinese demolished one of the ten day hospitals they threw up to confront this. Of course a ten day hospital would probably have a short lifespan, still it supports the statement.

Third, we know that there are reported cases of recurring infections, which are poorly reported but seem much more severe and even deadly.

Fourth, we have Clifā€™s own description of the makeup of this virus and the insertions that were introduced to it through techniques you can read about here.
In Clifā€™s vid he describes how novel Corona virus 2019 is a result of 3 insertions; one from MERS, one from SARS and one HIV insertion.
Your body will build immunity to only one of the insertions presented by the virus and will be unresponsive to the others.
Which would explain the reinfection question and threat.
(Just the name ā€œnovelā€ is indicative of engineered origin since that is the term used by genetic engineers for their product.)

Fifth, we know that dogs can get it.
What is the effect on pets, draft animals and livestock?
How do you ā€œdisinfectā€ dairy, red meat, poultry, without huge slaughter?

We are still in the very early stages of this diseaseā€™s run, call it what you will, it has no comparative value with the flu.

If it enters the food supplyā€¦ we would be screwed. It makes ya wonder, China did order 40 large animal incinerators to Wuhan.

Itā€™s here in Washoe County Nevada (Reno)
The person is a man in his 50ā€™s and was a passenger on that cruise ship. Worst part is that he has a kid in school here. The have closed the school and are doing a deep cleaning. Maybe itā€™s easier on children, but they are carriers of everything in the season. The schools should stay closed and people should home school their own kids until itā€™s safer.

Jet fuel is Kerosene and itā€™s also used in lamps Iā€™ve never seen one of them melt and glass has a similar melting point to steel and have never seen a melted kerosene lamp ever. Never seen a melted wick holder either and they are normally brass or steel.

So my answer would be Kerosene/Jet Fuel doesnā€™t burn hot enough to melt steel, glass, or brass.
