Wrapping up this Royal now into week 8. Lowers are developing nicely and she’s just about finished. Beautiful kushy fuel smells coming off her! I cannot wait to start cooking this down
Looking good, really love the fuel smells also! Hope life’s been treating you better. Sounds like the new Doc is working out which I’m sure makes a huge difference.
Thank you. Yeah, new doctor is awesome. He retested me for co-infections and found I have Bartonella as well so I am on a combo of doxycycline and rifampin for at least a couple months. Hopeful I’m on the right path now.
I’m still here! Lol
Was just catching up. I actually re-read the topic. Sorry for your current health conditions. I’m guessing that it will eventually come with age for us all.
Its seems that you haven’t shared your extraction methods. Can you tell us how you make your RSO?
Hey man-these are the instructions I’ve been using and it’s working out well for me.
Edit: I use 190 proof ethanol. Everclear works too.
Do you grind the flowers in a blender? Or use 200 proof grain? Do you stir the mixture prior to freezing? Does yours come out more green? What’s your end product, sticky and dark?
I ask these questions because I’m about to do another extraction. Hehe, the decarb’d buds and everclear have been in my freezer for weeks.
I plan to try a natural evaporation with it this time. Normally I do a double boiler on the stovetop. Yes its electric, NO OPEN FLAMES, lol.
I’m trying to get more of a Golden Dragon color prior to evaporation. There’s definitely a trick to the process of making the purest RSO. I just gotta get better at finding it.
And can you believe this guy filling capsules that way?!? Rofl.
I’m gonna try this here soon. What’s the better way to fill them?
Use oral syringes. Just fill them and put drops in your morning drink or under your tongue. You could also use to fill capsules if the oil is thin enough.
I’ve talked to people that will thin it down with, coconut, MCT, or avacado oil. Making it more malleable easier to handle as well as make doses more even.
Thank you for this information.
I think @ColeLennon was the one who told me about natural evaporation with the use of a heat mat and temperature controller.
And I know @chronix fills capsules with something. Don’t think its RSO though. I think it’s an oil extraction.
Let’s see if either wanna chime in.
I heard it from another member. I use pryex bread pan and my 87 degree ac infinity seedling mat.
Got my new heat mat and temp controller last week.
I use infused coconut oil.
Thought so. I’m curious about the extraction rate and dosage for that method.
One tip I got along the way is to cook it in the sun and that removes the chlorophyll and the green color.
Yes to the blender. More surface area. I am using 190 proof organic ethanol-corn based.
I stir the flower when I add to the maso jar with the ethanol and shake it up really well. I’m not sure if you’re supposed to leave the weed in with the ethanol for a long period, I typically leave it in there a few hours and then strain and cook it down.
I’ve only made a couple batches so far so im no expert-still learning what works best.
An alternate technique I’ve been doing is making bubble hash (or dry sift) and then mixing that with small amounts of ethanol (everclear 190 proof) and then putting that into the freezer to crash out any fats/lipids into suspension for 24-48 hrs. Then pour it all through a coffee filter, cover and let evaporate at room temp. This saves quite a bit on the everclear and it also speeds up the evaporation since I also do it without heat.
Whether you want THC, THCA, or both will dictate how you make FECO.
Cold alcohol and evaporating at room temp is for thca.
alcohol with a heating mat on low makes thca and thc.
Baking the weed in a sealed mason jar at 240-260⁰F for 40 mim, let cool in fridge, then add alcohol and evaporating at room temp or with heating mat on low creates just thc.
Personally, i prebake, cold alcohol, no heating mat.
The alcohol will evaporate anywhere from 2-7 days.
Old pic
Good point on the decarb. For myself I have been using a heating pad (150°F) wrapped around a jar of the finished oil for 24 hrs and then mix it with the unheated oil for the broad spectrum. Lots of different ways.
Same here.
I like it!
