I lurked here for over a year trying to figure out LEDs (while using LEDs) and decided to become a member around six months ago. I’ve been reluctant to start a grow log as I still have the pit of prohibition in my stomach, and it seems surreal that my state has legalized. That said, here we are, the world is changing, and certainly for the better in terms of our favorite plant.
Our state legal limit is 4 plants and honestly, that’s all we need or have room for. I started all four seeds at the same time. Two Cap Junky’s and two Fire Creek OG’s.
Up first are the two Cap Junky’s. These are S1 seeds I won from a server fund auction from our generous member @LoveDaAutos. These are around 2+ weeks old in this pic. 10 gallon bags, Coco, Earth Worm Castings, Perlite and Dr. Earth dry amendments.
Here they are at ~4 weeks veg. I don’t really track veg time. Once you have your gear dialed in, you just kinda go with it, so all veg times are approximate.
This is CJ1. She is my favorite of the two. Tight nodes and very bushy. They look light on nutes in the pics, but if anything, I’m probably heavy on the nitrogen (EWC’s). The room completely white and is very bright. I used to repaint the floor after every run, but now it’s every other run.
Here is one of her leaves after I gave her a haircut. You can see how dark she is.
This is CJ2. She is a little more spaced out in terms of node spacing and her leaves are slightly different. Still pretty but definitely different. A testament to the variation you can have with S1’s.
Here is one of her fans after a haircut. Definitely different than her sister’s.
CJ1 has been given her side of the room. I love her canopy. Almost flat and lots of nodes. This was before the flip yesterday.
Here is CJ2 on her side of the room. I built this room after legalization. The inside dimensions are approximately 3 meters long (10 ft) X 1 meter wide (3 ft) X 2.4 meters high (8 ft). It is completely sealed and insulated, including the door and is tied into the home air handling system with an AC Infinity 6 inch blower inline with the ducting. You can see the intake duct on the lower right of CJ2. The fan from the other side of the room was blowing on her left side. That’s why it looks disproportionate.
Here are the two Fire Creek OG’s at around 2.5 weeks. They are regular F6’s from Omuerta genetics. They are virtually identical.
Here they are at approximately 4 weeks (same as the CJ’s). They absolutely reek of dank.
They refused to show me any sign of sex, so I remembered we had a purchased a 10 pack of Farmer Freeman sample tests and sent them two of them on their way. Three days later, both girls.
In the 4X4 they went in order to give the CJ’s plenty of room to stretch their legs. I normally only run one plant in the 4X4 and train it out, but I didn’t expect both of these to be girls so, in the tent they go. I have the net frame rigged with eye hooks and ratchet strings to adjust as needed, but I don’t think these two are going to stretch far. I have been wrong before though.
I didn’t take pics of them as seedlings, but I start them in coco and a couple of tablespoons of EWC’s in solo cups with a ziploc bag over them on a heat mat. They usually break the surface in three days.
Well, that’s where we’re at. The flip was yesterday. I’ll update as I see progress. Feel free to comment, question, critique. They seem paltry to me compared to most of the grows here. I have quite a few pictures of other plants I’ve grown in the same room and tent scattered throughout the site, but I’m happy to share pics of anything I’ve grown to date. They are mostly flower and harvest pics.
already love the journal and how you portray it in stages. 2.5 weeks from seed and they were that big ? wtf kinda gmo steroids are you giving them my seedlings are on day 14 and they look like they did when they broke surface still LOL fml.
what kind of light are you running in the 3x10 area ?
I have pretty good luck with my soil. I try to keep things simple when possible. I do supplement with CalMag+ at half strength every third watering. I will have issues if I don’t. When I’m proactive, I premix my bags and use bone meal, but I don’t always have the time or motivation to “cook” my mix first.
Admittedly, I didn’t even know tents had standard sizes when I built the room. In hindsight I would have built the width to accommodate some of the standard light sizes that are made specifically for tent growing. I started out using Mars Hydro TS1000’s (two for each side of the room) but now I use one TMLAPY 320W bar light for each side of the room. They have Samsung diodes and Meanwell drivers and seem to work very well. Here is a pic looking up. I only have 5 bars captured in the pic, but there are 6 total. The light is 45 inches long and 28 inches wide. Perfect for each plant in flower in this room.
The 4X4 tent has a Mars Hydro FC6500. I’ve never been able to take this light over 65% of full power without the plants barking at me. This next pic is the reason I don’t like having more than one plant in the tent. This is a Blueberry and a Shiskaberry from Barney’s farm on the last grow. It’s a little unruly in there.
Here is a more manageable GDP from a year ago. She was in a 15 gallon bag and I trained her out. She was a giver
We bought them over a year ago and they were right around ten dollars each if you bought them in packs of 10. They were more if you just bought individual tests. I love the convenience of Fems, but there are a lot of regs I want to run, and given the space and number constraints, I want to know what they are in terms of sex pretty quickly.
I am so glad you showed up. Especially with the info on Luke’s strains. I’ve always thought he was underrated. I have Thousand Oaks and can’t wait to run it. Have you seen his description for it? I was crying, I was laughing so hard!
I just looked into Omuertas stock. I love his descriptions. There’s a fine balance between not enough information to make a decision and the breeder writing these Hemingwayesque novels. This guy has nailed it.
I’m a sucker for a pretty face and a good story. He nails it in his descriptions. I’m glad to see Topshelf has run his gear. There aren’t a lot of grow reports out there. Dutch Passion probably takes their descriptions a little too far, but I’ll take that any day over a breeder that has no description or a picture.
Could not say it any better, I despise no descriptions it sucks! I absolutely loved Bodhis for years and years! Used to look forward to them, then he just kinda stopped…. Idk why I messaged and asked him once but only got a reply about testing no answer to that question
I just looked at that light , the TMLAPY , it does look pretty great! Do the uv diodes run constantly or is there a way to turn them on or off? The 320w version is on for 265$ Canadian right now (25% off) great deal if it’s a good light for sure. I’ve been looking at these new mars lights as well lately, I know of at least 5 people running them who are killing it, one who switched from the Gavi 1700e’s to the new Mars big boys and he say’s everything has improved, swears it! I just got this ts1000 I won, but need another to fill the 4x4 before I can test it out, but once I do, I’ll have a better idea, I did JUST find out LG is building the new Mars stuff, drivers, parts etc. and I absolutely love LG, most of my tv’s , my stove, my fridge, and many other things are made by them. I still have my lcd from when LCD’s FIRST came out! Biggest available ANYWHERE 37” lol and it weighs about 70 lbs but still works 20+ years later. But ya I have been surprised by Mars as of late, truly.
