Yes. It creates a rainforest effect and lessens evaporation, allowing for soil to stay moist.

Well that’s an interesting stance.

The rainforest, and more specifically it’s immense variety of fungi, are the direct feeders of the clouds that feed water to the rainforest. The combined amount of water droplets that serve as a launching mechanism for spore release (search spore release in mushrooms for more info on that) together form most of the rain that falls back into the forest. In that way the mushrooms take the role of the feeding mother to the entire forest. Some fungi will then transfer the rainwater that they encounter towards plant roots, even fullfilling a sort of spoonfeeding to the plants.

Neat huh?

Morning y’all,

So today is day two of flip! I’ve had the best transition after transplanting into these 10 gals. I did not fill the reservoir until a couple days after their second top dress and only topwatered after topdressing. There seemed to be no real downtime in them getting accustomed to their SIP bed after transplanting from solos. I am currently only running the two 315 CMH’s and the lights are positioned at the top of the tent. I’ll start lowering the 315s soon, and add the third and final topdress. Oh, I’ve been doing more foliars this round. Been hitting them with a kelp, silica, aloe, FAA, comfrey, labs mix and they’ve responded well.

Thinking of next round and I’m on the fence. Ha! No surprises there. Maybe doing a seed increase / breeding project?!.? My main focus would be to increase everyone’s stash of Space Monkey seeds, but also throw in some other goodies to hit with the Space Monkey males. Don’t know if the fall is the best time or if I should wait till my conditions are less than optimal (heat) next summer. If that doesn’t happen in the Fall, I need to start thinking of next rounds lineup. Hmm. Definitely Space Monkey, b/c I miss that monkey so , but I’m also thinking about Blue Tara f3, Golden Hashplant, DLA 5 f2, Endor Score, Mother’s Milk f2, Cobra Lips f2, Silver Mountain f2, and maybe Laughing Lemon or Cherry Queen, or, or, or, and, and,……

Plant counts totally suck, but I’ll throw in some surprises to keep y’all on your toes. Really excited for this round!
I fucking love being a steward to these magical plants!!!
Hope everyone’s Sunday is easy!

You talkin space monkey co-op? I know @nefrella and @Vagabond_Windy both made f2’s of the space monkey when they ran them.

New run looking great! :muscle:

I’m not ready for a co-op run. I just want to make a bunch of seeds from a favorite strain or two to pass out to anyone that’s interested.

Thanks, homie!!!

These would be my first four choices; probably move the Silver Mountain into spot #2, though. Maybe even spot #1 haha.

Is that really something you have to worry about, though? I know here in CA, there’s hundreds and hundreds of illegal 2000- or 3000-plus-plant grows; every few months you see a bust on the news. I’m certain they don’t care if a personal-use homegrower exceeds the legal limit by a few plants. They definitely don’t have the resources to go after every homegrower who might be growing nine or ten plants instead of six, anyway .

But maybe it’s different where you live haha.

How is the snugglefunk? Just popped a couple, hoping for 1 female to run out.

You are probably right, but better safe than sorry. For now at least.

Nice! The pheno I grew was a fairly low yielding 88g13 leaner with a peppery smell and a hashy flavor. I like the herb for nite-nite time, but did not keep it around. Will definitely revisit someday. Good luck homie!

Unless/until the local cops find a reason to look closer you’re probably good.

But that said, “no tell, no smell, no sell” is still a great motto even in legal areas. The more people who know you grow the more likely you are to pop up on a local cop’s radar—if only initially because some Karen caught a whiff of you growing or smoking what you grew and called in a report.

Thus I live in the middle of 12 acres no Karens allowed.

The phrase “VA don’t play” applies to the cops in that area too, I’m sure they haven’t quite grown out of looking for any excuse to kick stoners in the teeth

Those of us growing in more urban areas have many more Karens lurking. We should load some of them on a bus and send them to run around your 12 acres for a bit.

Agreed! My face and low key, GD lovin’ vibe has a boot target aimed directly between my eyes.

I’m at ground zero for Karens. Free range Karens! Ha! Maybe, someone like Ted Turner could lure them to his ranch in Wyoming and herd them.

It’s so sad, both of these statements just remind me of that horrible camp fire scene in Easy Rider…

Same here in Arizona get targeted all the time hell last time I took a flight was wearing a gd shirt got pulled to secondary extra searched swabed my mouth and hands for drugs and had a dog come all for nothing

I’m quoting this old post because I recently bought two Earthboxes of my own (from BuildASoil) to be able to fit 8 retail SIPs in a 5x5 tent, and I have some comments about them.

Sorry for the name dropping labels - I promise this isn’t a brag post. That’s just the only pic I have of the total layout.

And here’s a pic of the catch tray layout. These are the $5 boot trays from Wally World and they work great for catching runoff from overfilling the rezzes or a crack in your rez. (I now try to never overwater cuz it’s a PITA and raises humidity.) There’s two more of them you can’t see laid left to right under the Earthboxes in the back of the tent.

Anyway, Earthboxes are totally lying about their specs - they don’t come close to 2cuft (15gal) of soil. They hold right at 10gal of soil and no more unless you really mound it, but if you do that, top watering runs over the sides. Also, they don’t come standard with the casters anymore, so with the casters they’re a lot more expensive than City Pickers. And City Pickers go on sale every year at Lowes and Home Depot in the fall/winter.

A few more things. Earthboxes are topheavy and tip over really easy when you’re rolling them cuz the casters aren’t spaced very far apart. The shower caps have two holes precut in them that are in the wrong location for the watering tube…I can’t figure out why they would precut those holes since it just adds a place for humidity to escape and bugs to get in unless you tape the holes. The plastic used in the construction isn’t any better than the CPs as far as I can tell. Their odd dimensions mean they don’t fit in a tent as well as the CPs. Here’s 4x CPs using almost every available inch of floorspace in a 4x4 tent:

Anyway, sorry for the rant folks - just thought I’d share some direct feedback about these retail SIPs. If you want to max out a 5x5 tent, 6x City Pickers and 2x Earthboxes fit.

F*@$&ing brilliant! thanks for sharing that nugget!!

Thank you @nube for clearing that up. That is some very good intel! Are you able to access your tent on 3 sides? Can you easily pick up those CPs to move them out of the tent. I’m in a carpeted room and don’t imagine the casters rolling that well when loaded down. How many cubic feet of soil do they hold again?

One thing is for sure I have space in my tent that is not being used and I am going to correct that! Plant count be damned! Ha!Ha!

Quick update:

-Running 11/13
-Added 3rd topdress last night.
-May try to sneak in another EB before I get too far along…. Another Lemon Wookie v2 sounds about right. I had another one that I really liked the structure on, so I’ll probably cut it way back and plant it.
-I lowered CMHs and some seemed a little unhappy so I raised lights back up 1/2 way. That seemed to calm them down.
-Inspiration moves me brightly y’all!

My pleasure - hope it helps. Credit to @Torontoke for the original idea to use cheap boot trays, since horticulture water/spill trays are so incredibly expensive. I found these particular Mainstays brand trays at Wally World and they fit PERFECTLY and snugly between the casters of City Pickers. Only other tip is to make sure they’re flat on the floor/ground on all four sides when you slide them between the casters so you don’t get runoff spilling over the lowest corner.

Yeah, I moved this 5x5 tent out from the corner its predecessor was in, and now I have just barely enough room to squeeze in on the right side of the tent, and full access from the front and left sides. It’s taking up a lot of space compared to a 4x4, but my gf hasn’t complained…too much. It’s in our spare bedroom and the only other stuff in there is our exercise equipment. Puppy also hangs out in there a lot so I’m hoping the CO2 levels are higher than ambient.

CPs hold about 13-14gal of fluffy soil when watered in, more if mounded up, and about 1.75gal of water. They’re heavy when wet (over 100lbs) so no, they’re not easy to pick up, but they can be moved out of the tent if necessary. I’m an average size guy nearing 50 and I can pick them up and move them myself, but I kinda consider them set it and forget it. If they do need to be moved, I let the rez go dry before moving. They roll fine on carpet - not super smooth, but good enough to not have to pick them up. I try to be easy on the casters when going over thresholds between rooms and flooring styles. I think the one crack I had in a rez was from being careless rolling them outside on our broken flagstone.

No matter which kind you use, SIPs are the best. My maters are exploding outside after not getting them planted until the middle of June. In their CPs I decided to do a cover crop of alfalfa and fenugreek seeds I had laying around instead of a plastic cover. So far so good! My first time doing cover crop in a pot.
