So I chopped the Soar #3 and the Sky Cuddler #3 f3 #2 (I dunno why I chuckle every time I type “Sky Cuddler #3 f3 #2,” but I do…) last night, day 56. Took some pics, even though I just posted some a week ago, just because it felt weird not taking any on the day I chopped. Here’s the Soar #3:

She REEKS of grapefruit/pink grapefruit and “salty/sweat.” I took them both outta the tent right when the lights turned on and set them on the dining-room table, then spent like twenty minutes going back and forth between the grow room and the kitchen, filling humidifiers and getting the drying area prepped. The whole time, I was like,“Gawd, what’s that smell? I know it, what is it…?” At first I thought it was pink lemonade, but then realized it was grapefruit. Smells really good and not what I was anticipating at all.

My only other experience with that OMG dad was with the Smart Moves (Genius Thai x OMG) I grew a while back; one of those, the OMG-leaner, ended up smelling exactly like tangerines. So, in my limited experience with these OMG crosses, it seems like there’s real potential to find “citrus fruit”-type smelling plants, I guess from the ones that end up leaning OMG. Pretty cool, if you’re into that haha.

Just as an aside, re: that salty/sweaty smell: the Bandaid Hazes have been smelling like that for the last ten days or so, too, a combination of plastic and the the salty thing. I’m wondering if it’s something I did? Or maybe the way my soil mix is, uh, mixed up right now? I did re-amend my soil a while ago, can’t remember now if it was before this grow or if it was two grows ago. I added fish meal, though, I remember doing that, first time I’ve ever done that. I wonder if that has something to do with it… I dunno.

Anyway, here’s the Sky Cuddler, day 56, chopped:

Of course Bowie had to get involved in the chopping/hanging process. He just can’t help himself…

Anyway, the Sky Cuddler smells pretty mellow, kind of sweet, like marshmallow-y? Maybe? I dunno. In any event, I’m sure the smells on both plants will change while they’re drying and curing. I hope they don’t, though, because they both smell really good.

Since I had the camera out, I took pics of everything else. Trichome development on some of the Bandaids has increased pretty noticeably. I’m gonna skip the full-plant shots and just post closeups here, since I just posted full-plant shots last week.

Bandaid Haze #1, flower day 56:

I dunno why I labeled these pics “day 57,” it’s day 56. Oh, well…

Bandaid Haze #3, flower day 56:

Bandaid Haze #4, flower day 56:

Bandaid Haze #6, flower day 56:

So yeah, like I mentioned, they smell like plastic and the taste of sweat. Not like the typical “body odor” thing, but like the way sweat tastes, super-salty. So that’s, uh, kind of cool, I guess haha. I’m sure that’ll change as things progress, although they really have been smelling like that for the last ten days or so, so I dunno, maybe it won’t.

Here’s the Colombian Gold x Dragon Energy #1, flower day 56:

And the #2:

And here’s the Ancient OG x Dragon Energy #1, flower day 10? I think?

She’s really not stretching at all, to the point that I’ve checked the timer twice to make sure it wasn’t still on the veg cycle schedule. But it’s not, so… I’m still not even positive that she’s a she. Fairly certain, but not 100%. I’m keeping her in the 3x3 for now, even though I’d like to move her into the big tent and shut the small one down, but she’s way too short right now to go in there. Even on a five-gallon bucket, she’d be like three feet away from the lights. Hopefully she starts stretching soon, I dunno what her deal is haha.

Anyway, yeah, two plants down, which is always exciting. I’m stoked.

dude that CGxDE #2 has an awesome look to its flowers. its got that mean buzzsaw looking sativa vibe to it, i really dig it.

Yeah, her flowers are pretty cool-looking. Definitely not like anything else in the tent. I wish she wasn’t so gigantic, though haha. And that she had stronger stems (that reminds me, I watered with a little K silicate last night, just to make a note of that here). I took full-plant pics last night, just didn’t post them, and in multiple pics of the other plants, you can see random C. Gold x DE #2 branches leeeeaning down into the pic and getting in the way haha. She’s a fucking beast.

Naaahhhh, you think? I think the smoke is gonna be pretty pleasant and not “racy” or “anxious” at all. Doc described the mom as being “social and euphoric.” And just thinking back to the old imported weed we used to get when I was a kid, late-80’s, that smoke was always really stony and comfortable. Uncontrollable laughter, that’s all I’m looking for haha. Granted, most of it was probably Mexican and not Colombian (and I was also 13 years old haha), but still… I don’t think it’s gonna turn out all “teeth-gnashing” and shit.

I’m actually more worried about getting her through the door and into my drying area (the bathroom in the grow room) once I chop her haha. I like to hang the plants whole, but there’s no way that #2 is gonna fit through the door. And I hang the plants in the shower; it’s definitely not wide enough in there to hang her whole. Probably end up drying her in the tent or (gasp!) chopping her up into a couple pieces.

Nice :yum:

They all look great, the Soar especially.

That’s neat it was finished at 56 days… I can’t remember a Bodhi plant finishing for me in less 65 days… and that’s when I ran 12/12!

Do all your Bandaid Hazes smell the same? They all look completely different, at least to me.

I’ve been hitting the one I had. 4 months in the jar, very muted, delicate, fruit maybe. IDK, but it’s not like hay… or salty sweat! Really euphoric, mellow smoke, nothing racy about it a tall.

Yeah, I’m pretty surprised how quickly that Soar finished. The OMG-dominant Smart Move got chopped on day 63 and that was just because I had an out of control fungus gnat situation. She should’ve gone another week.

Yeah, pretty much. I’m sure there are subtle differences that’ll become more noticeable once they’ve been jarred and cured. Plus, you know how it is, after you’ve been smelling the first couple plants… After that, it’s pretty difficult to tell anything apart, unless they’re wildly different from one another.

Sweet! Good to know. I had a feeling the smoke wasn’t gonna be anxiety-inducing or anything, despite the BAH genetics.

man that sounds good, almost sounds like forbidden fruit, there’s definetly something about the soar, what a beauty. whats up bowie you look PISSED! haha

Yeah, she smells really good. And LOUD, too, I’ve been getting whiffs of her all around the house since I chopped her. I’m trying to think if I’ve ever grown anything that smelled garapefruit-y before, but I don’t think I have, so this’ll be cool.

Nah, Bowie never gets mad, chillest dog ever. Although he has been taking steroids the past couple months, sometimes I feel like I can see him on the verge of a ‘roid rage or something haha… Might just be because he’s eleven, grumpy old man…

Well, when you put it like that… haha.

He’s a good boy, he’d never attack me or my girl. Strangers, though… haha. One time I was baked and and on the phone and forgot to lock the little gate we have in the entry way to keep the dogs from the front door, some delivery driver rang the door bell and I went to answer. He fully shot through the gate and out the door and attacked the driver, bit her on the ankle (but just barely haha), I had to drop my phone and wrestle him down… She was cool about it, though, thank gawd. I had visions of her, like, pressing charges and having to put him down… My girl woulda KILLED me haha.

Those little dogs are straight up evil incarnate. My BIL has one that sometimes forgets he’s hates everyone outside his household. He’s all chill and then just flips like “oh shit, I’m supposed to hate you…DESTROY!!”

Yeah, Bowie obsessively sits in my girl’s office, front of the house, and stares out the window all day. Any time anybody even comes near the house, even if it’s just the neighbor across the street pulling their car into the garage, he goes apeshit and runs through the house, barking like a freak. What I’ve never understood, though, is that he then runs out into the backyard and keeps barking. It’s the backyard, dude, the people you’re barking at are out front. You just saw them out front. You know they’re not in our backyard.

Fucking dogs… They’re an endless source of joy haha.

Yooo bruv, long time no speak. Just caught up, good to see you’ve started to pull a killer harvest and back to pest free… stoked. Couple of those sativa leaners especially the donkey dick one looks like she’ll go another month or more. Gonna be enjoyable to burn around your pool this coming summer. Perfect with a Sierra Nevada Paley I bet.

I was reading what you were saying about aerated compost teas… I read a while back that a compost extract is just as if not more effective and basically risk free were as when you are brewing with air you run the risk of having “bad” bacteria or fungi out competing the good and even worse pathogens out competing everything. People who test with a micro scope before applying have no worries but who’s got time for that. I remember you saying you brew normally no longer than 24hrs so you should be in the safe zone, it’s normally when you forget it and it goes over 36hrs that when it gets a little dicey. But your plants look great so don’t listen to me haha

:joy:

Looking forward to the smoke report on the mean Jean stuff mate, shame about the germ rate and big male percentage though. I’d say your due for popping some Bodhi stuff soon. What’s next in the mix?

Hey! What’s going on? Yeah, it’s been a while. I thought you were getting ready for the move to Mexico or in the process of the move, figured I’d catch up with you after that, but then I saw that post on your thread and figured I’d just hit you up sometime in the next few days. Nicaragua sounds (and looks) fucking awesome, besides the fact you can’t grow there haha. That’s, like, my only prerequisite for moving to another country: gotta be able to grow relatively risk-free. And it has to be warm haha.

Re: the compost teas: it’s definitely possible to aerate so long they go anaerobic, but I haven’t had that problem. I think you’d have to aerate for at least two days before that happened. Probably have to start with shitty compost, too. Or old, nasty compost, anyway. I’ve aerated for as long as 38 hours and never had an issue. Usually I’ll do between 30 and 36 hours for the “veg” tea and 24-30 for the “flower” tea. They do seem to really work, though.

Shut yo’ mouth! Haha. The aphids showed up last run on day 60 or 61; I’m on day 57/58 today, so… Don’t fucking jinx me, dude haha. I’m definitely being cleaner, showering before I water, changing clothes etc etc, so I’m not too worried about it. I think the cold weather probably helps, too.

Definitely Doc D’s Outer Limits (Sour Diesel x AfPak) and Lucky Dog’s Diesel Therapy (ECSD X ‘91 Chem). I’ve been being so stupid about this whole thing, all like,”Welllll, uhhhhh, I don’t wanna grow any Sour seeds until I’m certain on my cloning skills and I don’t wanna grow two of anything at the same time that utilizes the same genetics…” and finally realized,”Bitch! You love Sour Diesel! Pop those fucking seeds!” So I’ll definitely be planting some of each of those crosses.

And yeah, the rest will be Bodhi stuff haha. I’m kinda thinking Dread Bread (Mango Biche x OMG)? Maybe? Just because I really dig that Soar I just chopped. And I liked the Smart Move I grew a while back, too. I like that OMG dad, I dunno why Bodhi discontinued it. So maybe the Dread Bread and then for sure one of the many, many GHash crosses I have in the fridge haha. I miss those. Thought the Black Triangle would hold me over until the next time I ran some, but that didn’t work out the greatest, so…

Anyway, great to see you around, dude! Always love chatting with you. Kinda sucks you’re not in a place where you can grow; I was looking forward to sending you those Mullum/Oaxacan seeds and seeing how they did for you in Mexico, but I get it. You gotta stay where it feels right.

Damn @minitiger thats a killer list of potential follow ups to this run. I had my eye in the outer limits as well. Have you seen jingelpot’s sour D run going on?? I think he’s opening up the wiki sometime today
