That’s crazy
Like you said, dry climate. It’s 8% RH about now. Keeps the house down to 75-80°F when it’s 100°F+ out.
So you think the little guy would be a valid option for folks in dry climates wanting to dry in a tent?
it’s not dry by me, and I would be concerned it’d raise RH too much
Probably would still need a humidifier tho
But at least it’s an AC that doesn’t dry the room out more
It may work on a small scale, but it’s all about the ambient temperature. You’re only ever going to get a 10-15°F temperature drop and once RH goes to around 60% RH, they become less effective.
It would be nice to have on my desk though.
I looked into building my own drying cabinet using Peltier coolers and a fan like a wine cooler. I was going to run it all off an Arduino, but it became too much like my day job.
Have you seen those large mini fridges (basically) with a humidistat they charge like 2k$ for?
in the name of “curing”
If you can keep it at 45% for 4 days and like 20C, that should evaporate enough moisture from the buds so you can bag them up without it molding. It’s just some basic rules to do with the growth of pathogens. .6 water activity, then seal it up. Keeps the buds kind of pliable not brittle, and gets rid of the hay smell. I never seal up a bud that smells like hay.
honestly me too…has anyone else heard of a similar technique? Too bad he had to be a dick about it and get b&
When you’re using the Cannatrol to dry and cure, does it contain the smells or are the smells vented out? I’ve been drying in my garage and i swear it stinks up the house and half the neighborhood and am looking for a way to contain the smell while drying. Thanks
It locks the smell into the weed… it does NOT vent the smell much… in fact… it locks it in so much… you don’t smell weed when it’s done as bud us right in front of your face… until you break it open… then… bam!!! Huge smell!!! But the cannatrol does dry cure and hold your bud … all without a overwhelming odor @PineTarBastard. … but this is all info from cannatrol… I just dialed in myself and finally am not killing plants… so my 1st use will be in a couple months… but I needed mine in my living room… so it was my 1st question to cannatrol. They said no odor
I’ll be doing lots of tests and reports on the cannatrol as soon as I get to use it… again… will be relatively soon now that I finally realized leaf surface temps were waaaaay to cold for led… causing zero uptake… killing plants over and over etc… along with a ph issue from ro water… (ph is unstable when you make ro water) unless you do things like mix tap or buy a ph ro water stabilizer… anyway… things are up and up… I’ll be spreading the info as I collect the data
@Terpsnpurps I’m looking at starting a new job soon, so smelling like weed is going to be a concern moving forward. In the past, i just dried it in the garage and didn’t really care if my house or me smelled like weed for a couple of months. But moving forward, odor control is going to be an issue, and i was wondering if this would fix the issue.
I think it will fix it for sure @PineTarBastard
So 4x4 tent
6" AC Infinity exhaust (set at 2)
Portable AC running non stop (Temp 65F)
Best I can do atm.
Humidifier set up (56% currently) I’ll get it up.
Now my #1 question is, what fan speed should I run on the inline? It’s venting outside.
Second, should I have a 6" clip on running on low & pointed at the ground? (Heard that last time from someone).
Any other tips?
Yes on the clip on. Don’t blow it on the plants, but air circulation is important. As long as the lights are off, which they should be, the inline is only important for the humidity. Set the exhaust to only kick on at temp and humidity. It doesn’t sound like your temp will get above anything important. So set the exhaust to only kick on if it gets too like 63 RH.
Won’t everything stink with no exhaust venting out?
Shouldn’t if it’s zipped up. What’s your humidifier running off of? Ac infinity brand/plug?
I don’t exhaust at all. I let the buds keep the humidity high for the first few days then use a humidifier for the rest
My last dry I had my exhaust set at 1 as “off”, but it wasn’t necessary. My humidifier running off an ac infinity plug was set to kick on at 56 with a 3 buffer. Dried for like 18 days… So basically cured in the tent. Sitting in jars now at 58% and sticky as hell. I don’t really know how to do anything, but pretty proud of it honestly.
I usually set my vent fan… 6in ACinfini to the number 5 speed setting keeps noise low but vents excess RH just fine. I like to set it to vent at around 63% and it usually keeps the RH floating within the 60% I aim for.
I also always run two 6in fans blowing 24/7 indirectly. not pointing at the plants. I don’t want stagnant air.
Works well enough for me…
Unless its a seed run… then I say dry those bitches out!!! haha
