Easiest way to decarb kief?

A while back somebody sent me a green dragon tincture both pops an I really enjoyed it. I want to try making my own, I’m figuring my kief would be the strongest? I’ve seen different recipes call for everclear but I can’t get it here. I am thinking of using ole smokey moonshine, simply because we have some. I don’t drink so I don’t know if that’ll be strong enough?

I notice kief melts when I smoke some so I’m wondering how you decarb it? Possibly the easiest way possible because I’ve never done it

Unrelated to this but does weed that has been dry shifted weed have a use? Is it worth trying to cook with?

I would decarb in the oven per normal instructions. I’ve done this.

Can’t say about moonshine vs everclear. It depends how strong it is and that’s hard to know.

I’d smoke a sifted bud and see. If it’ll get you high you can make butter with it but gauging dose might be difficult.

Just ask for pure grain alcohol at a liquor store. I myself wouldn’t use any moonshine product. The alcohol content is the key with such liquids. Any added sugars or flavors will effect your end product although most alcohol and water evaporates.

Your Bic lighter or torch will decarb kief just like when you inhale and light a bowl or jay. 160° F is what a machine I have uses but you can use higher temperatures just be cautious.

Generally I would only use the alcohol to extract when using whole plant material ie…bud or flower. You’ve got the " concentrate " already in kief so nothing more but to infuse it after decarboxylation if wanting to ingest.

Sifted or smalls you can use as well.
Grab some cheese cloth. At Wally world it’s in the sewing section if you decide to make butter etc. I was never a fan of chewing on organic material used in edibles.

I use vegetable glycerin to do infusions myself. I ve found it to be a smidge better than extracting with alcohol due to small amounts of material ran and yields. Definitely a mind trick as mass of final product just looks like more.

Last 2 tips from my experiences 1) Regulation of temperature throughout the process. You can find most items you need in your house and save money. Crock pot tech is something people swear by 2) The over strength per sey of the material you use matters. So garbage in possible no garbage out. I got lucky using degrading outdoor Cali budd before something about all those other chemical compounds rotting helped.

I use crock pot and yes It works flawlessly for decarb and infusions.I read VG Is shitty as retaining cannabinoids,I used PG instead and tried to make vape juice, but you know,VG and PG are Just to be mixed in the same amount to make ECig juice and the result was very low potency

I’m good on PG not a fan of it but have some.

I also don’t do those sticks either.

Bottom line less chemicals that can be used in whatever process imo the better for medicinal purposes.

I will look into finding a better alcohol. I did a little research last night, it looks like the highest proof I can get here is 80.

Has anybody tried using a instant pot to decarb or infuse?

Certain states regulate the proof/percentage of alcohol. So you are probably in one of those states. Only use moonshine if you or someone you know made it and know its 190proof. Good luck.

I use everclear and once it’s finishes I boil off 1/2 of the alcohol using a double boiler ( make shift )
It makes it much stronger

Some say this method decarbs the product but I’ve never done it my self

Being in Colorado at time has it’s advantages…

I concur Everclear over moonshine products for sure.
I have used that in the past before I found this one local.

Hi Heather,I have used my instapot for about 2 years of decarbing and infusing.I use the STEAM function for 40 minutes at HIGH PRESSURE and then,I infuse in oils or whatever for 20-30 minutes at the same settings.Eazy
@Heather420
Put a stainless steel trivet in the pot so the Mason jars Is not in direct contact with heating plate,
place the Buds or concentrate in a Mason jars,
close the jar Lid,
put water till the jar Is 1/3 submerged or at the level of your buds,
run It and then collect the goodies.

If you want to infuse put oil or butter in the jar After that and do the second run for 20-30 minutes.Butter was very potent we got scared.

If you want to use It for edibles It Is Better to do this way,if you are in a hurry Just decarb and infuse at the same time for 40min
I am sure you can get pretty strong batch with butter

I decarb flower, hash, and kief the same way: spread out on parchment paper on a cookie sheet in the oven at 240°F for 40 minutes. You can play with the numbers a bit if you like, higher temp/shorter time, but that’s my standard.

After decarb, I use a Magical Butter Machine for infusions. I typically use coconut oil or butter, but have infused Everclear as well. The machine runs a cycle of an hour or two, then you pour the contents through the MBM’s 190 micron screen to filter out any particulate matter.

This place is pricey but you’ll find exactly what you need. I ordered a gallon, getting ready for another round of Green Dragon myself. Have fun!

Edit - I’m in Nor-Cal, and had zero issues. You will have to sign for the FedEx delivery, so plan accordingly.
