Slavic roots?
Yep.
i’m a Heinz 57 type. Father was from Estonia and my Mum from South Africa.
And they have multi national heritage so I traced my blood going back to 8 different countries all leading to those two countries and then eventually Canada due to more bad shit. (WW2 and Apartheid).
More puttering and the results make me a very happy putterer.
I need more space for all the sale plants so I bought a 24" deep 5x shelf unit and ordered 6500K link-able LED bars sold for store lighting. They are bright as fuck and while not full spectrum they will absolutely do the job.
The very top is my one of my terrariums. I’m going to cover the screen top with plastic and install led bars when I find on sale and it will hold the Bonsai’s I’m going to be making up in terra cotta pots as living dioramas.
It’s slow burn work for higher profit returns… also I do this anyways so might as well go to town!
This is a great example of how it’s gonna be. The shelf height is perfect for mondi trays with domes or open trays with water rooting cups as seen here.
The 5 gal aquarium has 4x water lettuce from the pond, a lot of Aquabac (pellet form mozzy dunks in case anything came in with the roots) and a pond plant food tablet.
I love looking at their roots so I set the tank up so I can stare when in this room. All the cardboard is for bubble has drying I just need to find a proper place to store it.
Before this new shelf setup my drying tent was here so the meant more re-arranging downstairs. I’m one wye duct away from completion so I’m equally thrilled with the progress so far.
It figures that the way it’s set-up down here is even more refined that when it was upstairs and I’m looking forward to the first run with the GMO’s and Pink Lemonade #2 in a few weeks.
It was a tight fit, but I needed to move the dehumidifier closer to the subbasement so it all worked out perfectly.
Gen 1 Cloudforge by AC Infinity. The probe is set for 60% so it’ll kick-in if the space drops below 60% RH.
Humidity goes up, over and into the tent as to not have water pool inside the tube. I installed a cut Faygo bottle inside the tent which catches any water buildup and with a 1/4" hose channels the water…
…into a modified 1 gal water bottle allowing me to avoid a mess and reuse the distilled water back into the humidifier.
There are lights in this tent as it’s for drying and I need to see somehow. I got Xmas lights on 75% off last winter for it so they are lining the inside front bars making the interior glow without any shadows. A dollar store AC cable with foot-switch makes for a handy on/off button.
I use this tent 2 ways: with my racks which is a pain in the fuck because of how tight they get in here… and my personal favorite way by using the power of disco!
Mirror ball motor + sock drying racks + 6" clip fan = hanging and dancing flowers spinning slowly in moving air so no wet/dry spots to worry about!
Wanting a Cannatrol had me do all this because fuck no on a smaller box that’ll cost me $3000+ CAD when I can just be neurodivergent about it.
One more upgrade is with the Raxial 6" exhaust fan at the top of the tent. It’s now controlled by my Inkbird humidity controller set to 65%.
My hope is that the tent exhausting at the lowest setting when the humidity is above 65% in conjunction with the humidifier kicking in if the RH% drops below 60% will have the right balance to slow dry the flowers. All the moving air in the box and rotation with the motor are to assist in no mold taking hold.
Now I just need to find me a cheap as possible 6" wye and some more 6" pipe clamps and i’m set to cut and tye it into the existing ducting. I have a baffle I can install to stop the 2x4’s exaust from bleeding into the 2x2 drying tent but I also am thinking of looking into 6" blast-door which would allow me to totally cut of the backflow to the 2x2 when not in use.
I found this really helped my upstairs set-up where 2 tents use 1 4" canfan and the 2x blast-doors allow for volume changes between both tents, or just having one open when I’m only using 1 of the 2 tents.
A lot of txt this day but hey I have fingers and know how to use em.
Cheers folks hope all y’all are doing great!
Killer dry tent with the mirror ball motor, freakin brilliant!! That whole setup is really awesome
If you toss a beta fish in that tank with the roots, it will happily keep them clean and its poop will feed the plants. Betas typically don’t eat roots, don’t do goldfish for that one (that was a fun learning experience, hahaha)
LEST WE FORGET.
–
War to end all wars
Hatred lost control
Casualties now mounting
Tales yet still untold
Life’s eradication
Of man now beyond all reason
Totally insane
The human race becomes
Lest we forget thoughts will always haunt the mind
Lest we forget the bitterness remains
Vast termination
Man made rationality
Complete elimination
Of life beyond brutality
Eternal resentment
Re-occurs time after time
Driven to despair
Extinction drawing near
Commence removal of all things valued in life
The persecution what was once believed right
Humanities objective now totally deranged
When ignorance transpires, this world becomes insane.
Thanks for your sacrifice so long ago! Thank you all those that took the hard road so we can just be.
I see that the GMO & Pink Lemonade are well established and looking Good! I’m just wondering about the Germination Mats.
Do you leave them on the whole grow @Pigeonman
@MissinBissin everything is on controllers. Due to clumate change i havent bothered but will plug everything back in when the snow falls.
Right now the controllers are glorified thermometers.
On a today related note:
Man you got that basement packed right! Love the little diy hacks you pull off F@#$ corporate overpricing lol. Man glad you got this hobby, you with nothing to do sounds like it could be dangerous for the rest of us!
Dangerous? Nah, giving me ideas
Did more puttering today but only a lil’ plant related. We have 2x craft shows coming up, one on Nov 23 and the other Dec 14… both very close so serious bonus there!
I’m working on our display as we’ve only done a show or two a year but know we’re ramping up for 2025 and might as well get my shit all in one bag before we get there.
Every show we’ve done is outdoors, but these next 2 are indoors so I’m building a wood frame/stand to support 2x lights and increase product height for single-table shows.
Here’s the rough out with a very small 2’x3’ space which is about the smallest we’ll do:
The frame is made of 3/4" ply scraps found on the curb. I still need to sand it down and then paint it black and seal it but am happy that I don’t need to do any mods… Dollar store acrylic black will do the trick and I have a can of sealer somewhere.
I’m leaving it as an open box and we’ll be draping fabric over it and product in front of it. I want as many options for clamping spots cause people don’t mean to but tables get bumped and I want everything to move all together and not topple over and everywhere.
I PROMISE I’LL HAVE SOME PLANT SHOTS LATER TODAY!; the GMO’s and Pink Lemonade #2 are frosty as fuck. I’ve been pushing their feed and they are in the middle of week 7 flower so I’m looking forward to sharing tonight after lights on.
Also the NWHP got nute burn and look like shit but smell like WOW. ll the solos in my Propogator90 tent are getting close to finishing as well.
On a random note:
GMO’s & Pink Lemonade #2:
PL#2:
GMO:
Nepalese Watermelon Hashplant:
The Propagator90* with the 6x solos in week 5 flower.
GMO, 2x Mendo Breath, Limed-Orange, Pink Lemonade #2
@Pigeonman is the bottom try just to stabilize the cup or do you have a mini res under there?
Yes it is! They are dollar store plastic bins where I get 3x for 2$. I cut out a hole so the walls of the cup touch and therefore act as a large “foot” keeping solos from topping over.
Actually yes as well! Also from the dollarstore I get small locking food storage containers. The lid locks into the base which makes them super stable with an open top.
They look like this:
The smallest one fits under the grey storage bin and catch the run-off so the plant can wick it in between waterings. I may end up cutting a series of viewing holes because if it gets too full that’s a problem.
Heya mate love your growin’ stylezzzz
Beauties in your cabs keep up your hard work
And thanks for sharing
Peace out
Thanks @Ras-T !
Big love right back at you growmie!
Another round in the can!
Usually a film term, I use cookie tins to store my cobbs so it’s still applicable.
I got some new inventory for the plant shop which I’ll be growing out to make the cuts for sale. These are the mothers.
Maranta leuconeura aka Prayer Plant
Monstera Adansonii aka Philodendron Swiss Cheese
Pothos - Pearl & Jade
Pothos - Cebu Blue
Pothos - Marble Queen
Pothos - Neon
Pothos - Manjula
The Manjula is striking in person and will be a good moneymaker. I’ve ordered 50x 6" hanging baskets so I’m ready to make striking waterfalls through the winter.
Oh man great pic! We love prayer plants but can’t keep them alive here. Don’t like temp swings or drafts so they do great all year until desert summer hits then they last about a month.
Good morning everyone!
I ended up getting some more plants yesterday when I walked into Giant Tiger to get shampoo and left with shampoo + 5 more …
Heart-leaf philodendron
Polka-dot-plant
Spoonleaf peperomia
American rubberplant’s
Japanese Aucuba (It looks so close to a Variegated Croton)
These are all 4" pots. I’m going to up-pot all of these into 6" pots to get bigger to provide cuttings when I figure out where they will all go.
Good morning Farmer how’s it going hoping ur having a wonderful Sunday so far
